leadership can't get around massive under-performance. Leadership will make the difference in tight games (not a fan of Buttler as captain, but he's not terrible).

the issue today is we batted crap. just hope it's not a rot that sets in. our batting feels like it's stagnating and has lost some of that power and skill that nobody could live with.

our bowling has always been our weaker suit, and definitely still is.
Agreed, its a bit of an old boys club at the moment! They won't be about for the next world cup, and I do wonder who'll be captain then, and if the likes of Duckett will be given a chance at that point? I can't see any of this lot WANTING to retire. I don't think Buttler is particularly inspirational or thinks much outside the box, and he really doesn't hide his distain for bad bowling which is not what you want.

So far Netherlands bowling impresses me but if their batting had more to it they could have potentially won both games. The issue with them is they have steady batsmen at the top who can build decent partnerships without ever going big but at a leisurely run rate. Against Pakistan they should have won that match since 3/4 of the match they were in control but once the run rate goes up they don't have batsmen who can go up the gears and so fall apart meekly.

This might annoy a few of the 10 men and their dogs who actually rock up to watch the 4 day stuff, but nothing sums up the standard of the County Championship better than the fact that Adil Rashid has 10 first class centuries. TEN.

Topley demonstrating why Willey should have opened an not Woakes, when are they going to realise Woakes isn’t a sub continent bowler?

Haven’t heard from the Aussies yet about wanting the SA game replayed yet….🤣

England have pulled this around nicely in the last 15 or so overs thanks to the spinners, and a little help from Afghanistan running.

Up front seam apart from Topley right now looks worrying though.
