Anyway, next up, the Aussies. Lets just put this all behind us, draw a line underneath it, and move on. Here is the line.....

Think the third umpire needs a word in his ear too after that shocking decision to give bell out
How can someone with unlimited access to replays still arrive, even after watching the evidence before his very eyes over and over again, that it was out?

Amazed he didn't give broad out later too...tosser!
Still in proper cricket we have beaten India home and away recently and that means more to me...as will an ashes victory rather than this fast food version of the game

Thats a funny one. In test matches he bats like its a 50 over match, but when we play 50 over matches he isn't considered. Also his fighting spirit could come in useful.

ETA Thats Matt Prior btw. Keep up
in the last couple of years we've had three different keepers who quite frankly haven't been fit to lace prior's boots, it's crazy!

Perhaps, but the better team won and this was as good as chance as England had to win the tournament which, by the looks of it was the last edition!

I think we need to keep some perspective here, India are a very good one day side and we got to the final when we looked like going out earlier on. I think changes need to be made in the side (with bell moving aside for Pietersen when he returns) and maybe looking at the wicketkeeper situation (though I think we should stick with Buttler for now). We need a change in tactics in the side and look to start a lot more aggressively (a returning pietersen would really help this.) Our bowling is the one of the best in the world and if we could increase our tempo of batting then we could really start to win tournaments.

I think Bopara has been fantastic in this tournament, I saw A&C's earlier comments and thought that it was unfair on Bopara. He hasn't got the temperament to be a England Test Batsman right now (though he could definitely play test cricket for other nations). However, his batting in one day matches is top notch and with some very handy bowling and a good fielder, he is a valuable player for the english one-day side.

In reply to cranky...Sure...of course I wanted us to win and break the drought...but if you offered me a choice of what to win this summer...no contest...

As for bopara, I still have my doubts...He played better in this tournament, but when the game was there to be won today, he blew it...to get out a ball after Morgan's shocker was a killer

where else on this planet would you have that scenario? It just wouldn't happen!
why on earth was it played at edgbaston?
In fairness the grounds were chosen before the tournament started. The final could have been South Africa v New Zealand, but it would still have been at Edgbaston.

it's just crazy, I was sitting there watching the game between our covers going on and off in our clubhouse today seeing a home nation in a major final being outnumbered 3:1.
I just don't get it! Enough said on it though, I thought we done well to get to the final as I certainly wasn't expecting it!
Bring on the real test!!!

It felt like watching Spurs on the last day of the season. Nearly but not quite.

Mickey Arthur sacked apparently, that's good timing. It reminds me of the 90's with English cricket.

Not many players were happy with his appointment, same goes with a few senior figureheads within the ACB, largely because he wasn't an Aussie.
I just hope the appointment of Lehmann doesn't galvanise them, would be a minor miracle though given the lack of talent they've currently got in their ranks though!

Mate, I am Indian by birth so, my allegiance lies there and I know where you come from when you say the Ashes are your priority. I totally comprehend, having seen the happiness a win at the Ashes brings on the face of my English mates.

Wish you guys luck with that.

Root in for Compton for the warm-up match. The selectors obviously read SC ...

Jos Buttler is fucking crap. That little cameo a few weeks back allowed him to keep his place in this tournament, but he did sweet FA for pretty much all of it. His job is to smack a quick 20-30, not expose his stumps.
