We should call up a few more non-Test players if they're going to score half centuries.

he played well up to that point. My problem is it was a really badshot to play in that situation. We are still along way behind in the match. He Just needed to keep going slowly and ticking off the runs

It's telling the crowd or opposition to be quiet. Considering no one was saying anything , I think he was asking us to be quiet whilst being quiet.
Are we certain that no one had been saying anything to him? There's always a lot of chatter that passes back and forth between batsmen and fielders that isn't always picked up by the TV coverage. A shh gesture is certainly more acceptable than some of the send-offs that fast bowlers have traditionally given to batsmen.

Positive. A Traditional send off would've been far more appropriate....which is incidentally my point!
To confuse me further, im not even sure it was or has been aimed at any of the batsmen, which prompted my observational original question.

Best shushing is by James Anderson to Mitchell "Bowls left bowls right" Johnson

Bit disappointing Jimmy getting out to the final ball of the day. But that was a pretty good day for England, and a fantastic innings from Root.

Siraj was asked about this celebration and it’s a shush gesture to all the people who said he won’t amount to anything in cricket, he’s from a very poor family and background.

Sorry but I’m still not in agreement with all this. I watched the game last night as obviously there was nothing else on being Saturday night. Boundaries brought in and still overly gimmicky, hard to follow graphics and just all round nonsense. As for the quality, Laurie Evans played some good shots against absolute dross. Jason Roy being the star attraction and he ends up facing Joe bloody Denly who was opening the bowling. It’s on a par, quality wise the Big Bash in Oz, awful really.

the quality has certainly been diluted with the test players leaving and the aussies not travelling, but overall, it's much higher quality than the blast.

the graphics and gimmicks are intended for a brand new audience, granted it's not really what we're used to, but if it brings a new audience and captivates them, then i'm all for it.

hopefully next year the scheduling and availability of overseas will improve it again, bit despite my initial sceptisim I have to say i'm a fan.

There are some awful players in The Hundred. The Big Bash is of a far higher quality.

I think the 100 games have been quite enjoyable and close (for the most part) Also seems to be getting a lot of kids interested in the game which can't be a bad thing.

Also interesting playing spot the ex-England player...

It really isn’t. They don’t get the best of anyone over there. Tom Curran is the star bowler. The one with the highest quality is obviously the IPL, the rest of the franchise leagues are complete garbage.
