The ball is starting to misbehave. I think if we can bat until half hour before lunch tomorrow get 150-170 ahead declare. Saturday could be a wash out and Sunday showers . Going to want 60 overs at them tomorrow and try and get 5-6 wickets

They're playing sensibly, but I was really expecting/wanting some high octane stuff.

You'd think the instruction now would be to just attack attack attack.
Definitely not. With the forecast and the way the pitch is playing just get as big a lead as you can for a while and this should be a 3 inning game. We can attack in the morning but the uneven weather and pitch will help us bowl them out

My 15 week old daughter is engrossed in the cricket.... Could just be the green colour on the big screen but I'm pretending it's the cricket.

Obviously an amazing innings from Crawley, and Root being Root, but I think Moeen's innings was as important. Given #3 is (I think) his worst position, and that he's taking one for the team batting there, that 50 was so, so important. England could easily have been 15-2 and right in the proverbial but he got us into a brilliant position for Root and Crawley to push on from. And I think he's going to have a huge role in Australia's second innings too. Bravo.

The weather is the problem. 4th day looks a wash out . We need to put our foot down in the morning get 180 ahead have 2 sessions at them tomorrow. The uneven bounce suggests wood and broad could be a threat and if there’s cloud cover woakes and Anderson also .

Here's a thought. We bat another good session, end up 200 ahead. Pitch starts doing things, rainy overcast conditions, is an innings win out of question?

Especially if there's rain stops and that stop start hindrance for Aussie batters. Maybe that's the thinking behind not going gung ho tonight by Stokes and Brook.

Zak Crawley take a bow son!! 👏 🏏 also Root solid knock and unlucky with that delivery, was loving his scoops 🤣 phenomenal innings so far. Hopefully stokes and brooks can build us a big quick lead tomorrow 🤞

Was pretty worried when we were 9-1 but Crawley with the innings of his life 👏

Cummins looks absolutely spent

Is forecast 4th day no play at all or on/off?

But yea need stokes and brooks to smack it about quickly tomorrow then have a go at them.

what do we think ideally get to about 200-250 lead if we can?

We should not declare, get a big lead and try not to bat again
Crawley said they want to bat once on the BBC. So good to see their plan is what we've thought of too.

I really think a result is a possibility after today. If we bat for another 30 or so overs and add another 150-160, that's a very healthy lead. Aussies will then go into preservation mode. Not easy playing for a draw from day 3, even if the rain clouds are over the horizon.

I worry about the weather, there might only be another 3/4 sessions. Bat for another hour max to get to around 150/60 ahead and then go for it.

I think that's basically the plan. I think you could see that Stokes was thinking that he wanted to be there for the morning and with Bairstow/Woakes/Wood to come we are looking to get 180-200 ahead and get them in for 20 mins before lunch tomorrow.

Edit: Scrap that, looks like little chance of play before lunch tomorrow. Get them in before tea, washout Saturday, then try to take them out in between showers on Sunday. Going to be really tight.
