Fabulous series. Really enjoyed it.

However with Broad retiring, Alli is he going back into retirement? Jimmy in this series looks like a 41 year old having only taken 5 wickets in 4 tests he played.

Woakes is 34 and while he has been brilliant his interview today seemed to suggest he is a bowler for English conditions only.

Wood is 31 and Stokes said today couldn't really walk properly with badly bruised heel. So as quick as he is, can his body hold up to 5 tough test matches.

So where is the next generation of bowlers coming from? I am not a massive watcher of County cricket so no idea if their are some hidden gems out there.

England could almost need a whole new bowling attack.

Good stuff today. The greatest series ever since the last greatest series ever!

So pleased for Stokes. What a leader, skipper. Unbelievable how he’s taken to captaincy

The bowling unit needs the most surgery. Potts, Tongue, Stone all need to get test overs in the bank and Ahmed looks very promising. Robinson is going have to put on a ya d if pace but if he does he can become the cornerstone. Lots of opportunities for those that want to take it

Nobody will convince me that Broad should be retiring. He’s still so good and will be desperately missed in this England side. He is the bowling equivalent to Stokes when it comes to the big stand and deliver moments.

Very sadly, I'd have to say, I think the wrong one has retired.....

Initially I felt Broad delayed his announcement in case Anderson decided to retire, as neither would want to steal each other’s moment…but Broad and Jimmy retiring together would’ve been a perfect end to such a brilliant chapter in English cricket.

And let's hope we hear no more criticism of the way Stokes and BM are pushing us to play. It's an absolute pleasure to watch win or lose.
Will be exactly the way Spurs will play next season.

Definitely agree he is still bowling really well and could easily go on at the top level for a couple more years, but I completely get it from his point of view for a lot of reasons. Will be sorely missed though. Always loved his competitive edge as well.

I think Australia deserved to draw the series so congrats to them on retaining the Ashes.

I agree England could have won 4-0, but I think the same could be said for the Aussies. I also can't remember a series where one team has had so much luck - the biggest possibly being given a new ball after 37 overs!

Fair play to England though. Quite the comeback in both the Women's and Men's Ashes. If the Men's Ashes were worth 16 points like the Women's then this shows how the points were scored over the last 6 weeks:

Some really decent performances with bat and ball, Crawley with his runs up top, Broady being Broady, Stokes doing Stokes stuff…….but for me Man of the series was Woakes.
19 wickets at 18 from three tests, take a bow son, to come in and perform like that was outstanding.
Just looking at the stats though and I thought Root had had a bit of a poor series by his standards but then he still scored 412 @ 51!

Exactly what I was talking about last season in contrast to the suffocating way that the likes of Conte or Eddie Jones have their teams play. They end up with so many squad injuries because injuries accrue in bodies under stress.
This approach by Stokes and Baz reveals that even fast bowlers in their mid to late thirties can get through back to back Tests.
Broad played all five Tests, endured 2 defeats at the beginning….and still didn’t reach a threshold of stress that kept him from competing at the highest level throughout the series.
Keep a squad upbeat, optimistic, playing in the moment and with attacking flair (with no fear of failure) and you keep a healthy squad.
I bet you that we have a fraction of the injuries this year under Ange, because of the atmosphere around the squad.

Stokes and Baz have opened people’s minds as to what’s possible when being coached by the true opposite of control freaks. Free the players up…and enjoy life 😊

great series, full of firsts

well done to both teams
Bollox to that. You got absolutely murdered 2-2

Embarrassing. Hopefully you’ll be a bit better in a couple of years time and maybe try and go toe to toe with us rather than sticking 8 men on the fence from ball one
