Well done to Calmejane.
What a fantastic stage. Mont Du Chat looming as the defining climb in tomorrows stage. Should see the GC riders attack.
Can't wait to be honest. Bring it on!

There's going to be a lot of tired riders tomorrow, and that's before they get to the three Hors cat climbs! Two climbs in the first 11km, wouldn't be at all surprised to see someone like Contador attack early.

Final climb is a beast;

Descent is pretty hairy too.

Oh dear, Aru and Quintana attacking as soon as they see Froome put his arm up with a problem. Do they really not believe in their own ability to be resorting to that already? Quintana especially has a habit of this. Looks like Porte did the decent thing and told them to halt it.

Hectic stage so far, all AG2R's tactic of attacking on wet descents has done is put Thomas and Majka out of the race and Contador on the floor, Bardet is now isolated while Froome, Porte and others still have teammates around them.

Awful luck for Gerraint though, he must have the worst luck in the whole peloton. Barguil smashed him off the road a couple of years ago, the Giro policeman this year and now today.

Screw all the unwritten rules. You're racing to win the tour de france. Attack any time you can gain time on the leader and favorite.

Brutal crash with Porte and Martin. Horrible.

No, you just don't sit on your rival's wheel and attack as soon as you see they need a bike change. It's cheap, it's unsportsmanlike and it's not what cycling is about, as Porte clearly showed by telling Aru and Quintana to wind it in. Anyone who watches cycling knows this.

Horrible for Porte, completely misjudged his line and then flying into the mountainside like that .... Looked like he went head first into the rock, without a helmet that could have been fatal.

Also a catastrophic move by the FdJ directors to send three helpers out of the race alongside Demare. Captain or not, they should've pulled Demare when they saw he wouldn't have a shot at the time limit so the three could catch up and stay in the race - which they almost certainly would have. Decimated the team for little good reason.

Sad to see Mark Renshaw go too, and I was shocked when I saw Trentin didn't make the limit either, he must have been ill or injured.

Kittel again! Monster doesn't even begin to cover it. He's head, shoulders, knees and toes ahead of the rest of the field.

Kittel only has to make the time cut on the remaining mountain stages and not fall off and the points jersey is basically his. It's all very well Matthews busting a gut to get over two mountains to get 20 points but he's getting beaten in flat sprints by the likes of Boasson Hagen who's not even an out and out sprinter. Greipel's third and the best finish he's had all Tour is two 3rds.

Got to feel for Bodnar getting caught with only 200m or so to finish.

Back to the mountains tomorrow, should be a bit tasty what with this little ramp up at the finish.

Gutted for Bodnar. Such an impressive ride. Easy to see why Sagan has made sure he moves teams when he does.
Kittel is so impressive. When Quick-Step get to Paris and unleash the train (as they surely will for Paris) the speed will be something to behold. Once again looking forward to this stage. Should be a cracker.
