So I’ve just managed to gloss over the various threads just to get a brief update and it looks like all our targets are slipping through as of today’s media? Am I correct in saying that ?

Its not like hes gonna say 'if we get a bid of 70m euro, ill think about it'. Of course hes gonna say a stupid figure.

Lol this is amazing. The world truly has gone nuts! Also if City bid anywhere near that then it makes even more of a mockery of their current attempts to get Kane (proven EPL player, country captain, multiple golden boot winner, top assister in arguably one of the hardest leagues in the world, 3 years left on his contract) for only £125m ish.

The ITk is £160m for Levy to answer the phone. We have nurses using food banks. The world has gone mad

Let’s hope for some outs on top of that.

Perhaps the 4 players coming in will be different depending on the Kane sale. Maybe there is a plan A and plan B depending on much we have to play with. Doesn't mean that we won't get the players in, but it might mean a difference in quality?

Just thinking out load really.

I reckon Vlahovic would have been worth a punt at €40-50m or so, and I'll admit I haven't been watching Fiorentina, but from what I have seen I'd say there's a mighty risk of him being an Andy Carroll.

Nothing will depress me more than if we sell a nigh on as-good-as-it-gets forward and replace him almost pound-for-pound with the latest Timo Werner - or worse, another Janssen, at a time when there's supposed to be bargains out there. Fiorentina will think they have the market at their beck and call, so I hope Paratici has a better one up his sleeve.

I mean, if Kane's apparently only 'worth' £100m, you can be sure as fuck that few others should be remotely near that!

All clubs expecting Kane to inflate striker's market and next season it will be Haaland. No rush to sell.

So this is supposed to be a buyers market this window with a lot of teams in need of money. Yet all our top targets appear to be more expensive than ever. 100m for Vlahovic off the back of an impressive half season is crazy money.

I think we are near done with any big business. Winks, Sanchez, Aurier all likely to stay along with Kane. Expect a few outgoings on loan with a wing forward coming in to add cover across the front.

The problem is not so long ago we were saying 'see you in August' to a supposedly happy and contented Harry Kane after another very good season. What mind set striker are we going to be saying 'welcome back' to if this deal collapses ?? It's impossible to expect everyone will just pretend it never happened, there has to be a negative fallout to all of this.

Based on what everyone's been saying, it seems like we'd be buying potential at completed prices. e.g. after a few seasons of development, would be be worth more than that? How much more? What's the point in buying a player and developing them if they're potentially going to be sold at a loss if they do a Kane on you.

The obvious rebuttal is that you shouldn't be worrying about resale value, but it's more a case of paying for potential at development prices. This isn't the thread for suggesting alternatives, but you'd not struggle to think of better players to spend it on from the PL if you wanted less of a gamble.
