I can't see Daniel Levy laying out £25 million - almost £10 million more than our record transfer fee for Moutinho, after spending £15 million on Dembele, who plays in his position, and with Dembele, Sandro, Parker, Huddlestone, Sigurdsson, Livermore, Jenas and Carroll all still on the books. Going on his past form, I really can't see that happening, as much as I'd really like it to.
3 players that are clearly not part of out future plans. Carroll could be easily loaned out as he isn't ready to be a PL just yet and Parker is probably one serious injury away from being out for a while / end of career.
Looking to the future the only reliable midfield players we have right now are:
Dembele, Sandro and Sigurdsson (and even he hasn't proved himself yet).
We are clearly short at least one good midfielder and probably two.
Moutinho plays a different role to Dembele and whilst Dembele is adapt at the CM role, he can play effectively further up the pitch, given that he was previously a striker.
