So, Man U strengthens, while we let an asset go for £40M less?
Who is the winner here?
Who said anything about 40m less ?

I do agree with this narrative and see where it’s coming from however we all need to just calm down a little. It’s still early in the window, we have clearly already shown ambition we never have before giving Kane, Eriksen, Alli and Poch deals over and above our wage structure. We can’t instantly blow money on new players as although the new stadium leads to greater future income that income isn’t there yet. 3 years of champs league football money and TV money = stable enough to hand out big new deals. By all means positive steps being taken. Let’s see who the new signing is that is imminent according to GF and see what the building up leads to that Val has alluded to thanks for all the Info Herc, love how involved you are man!
Can't deny that there are startling similarities between this Toby fiasco and the 'things have changed' narrative this summer, and the Walker to City deal last summer.
Hope it's different but clear parallels already appearing.
If we hold him until next summer - he goes for £25M....Who said anything about 40m less ?
Toby going to United can be the only realistic option and people can be disappointed at it happening at the same time
They aren’t mutually exclusive, it’s a shit situation.

We have circa 150m to spend! That is NOT reliant on sales!
Our net spend we want to be very favourable by close of window!!!...
Nope like fans who have just paid for the most expensive season tickets in the country in the second largest stadium and aren’t willing to accept second best anymore. If the club want to charge us top dollar then we have every right to expect top quality on the pitch, not (as has been alluded to) a series of middle tier hit and hope signings with limited financial downside.Like spoilt kids at xmas on here.
I don’t think ITK have factored in contract renewals, and thats where this magic £150 million has come from. Our spend will probably be much lower for incomings.
no because at the time signings weren't as inflated, and Walker had a longer contract, but wasn't truly happy. Poch wants a happy squad, 1 bad apple, whinger in the ranks can cause disruption. if your not on board please jump ship and swim elsewhere, because a happy squad can help build confidence

What about contract renawals though, i bet no one is factoring these in as part of the £150I think this gets confusing to people. It reads like a net spend of £150M
But, I think what you are trying to say is we can buy before selling, but that our net spend will still be closer to £50M once the dust settles on the window.
So why were we in for Martial when we knew it was going to be an impossible deal to pull off? Wasted a month fucking about again.
right, but in your scenario - to which I responded - you said Man United would buy someone else, and we would put Toby in the reserves for 6 months. He will be sold this summer imo you just don’t bend over backwards to the first offer that comes in.
We don’t want to sell to a rival, they don’t want to sell to a rival both or nothing imo.
Our sum for buying is our sum for buying. However that sum has to be financed one way or another, and over the summer outgoings are a way to finance (part of) it. But outgoings and incomings are not religiously linked. I think.I think this gets confusing to people. It reads like a net spend of £150M
