Still got a funny feeling about Martial. I think he'll be one of those players that will be surplus to requirements and the selling club (united in this case) will be offering everywhere come the middle of august.

These are the types of deal Levy loves

If they do that, they won’t be able to replace him if they wanted too.

I believe we will make 1 statement signing, in the region of 50m-packaged up to look more. I really do believe we will do that. The club know the backlash it would face, and also from the media. We planned carefully to do such this season.

I personally wouldn’t be too underwhelmed, because we are batting now in the big boy league. And the key players we want, others want also.

You know this for a fact now Sherlock do you?
Its a fair assumption - given the info in the thread, and we know Levy will be willing to take less from a European squad, if they are close in valuation.

Thus, if we take United's bid, that suggests very strongly that no other clubs were in the market near that price point.

Am I the only one that doesn’t give a toss what happens with Toby now? I don’t care where he goes. The sooner the better though so we can stop talking about it.

Staying optimistic till the window closes. So should the rest of you. Thanks @Hercules and all the other ITK’s for all the info you’ve been sharing (y)

Hope Hercules manages to survive this whole window (and others to come) - providing some great info and insights to club thinking - but he still seems to get unnecessary backchat from some.

We have to be grateful for posters like him, let's not upset him to level that he doesn't post like we have with some others before.

I'd still be shocked to see anywhere close to 150m net spend. I'd be surprised to see close to that gross. That has to be 4+ signings basically. We'll have to clean house a little bit beyond just Toby leaving or we won't even be able to name everyone in the squad. It's safe to say I will be insufferable to all my non-spurs friends if we go on to buy up that many great players.

I don't understand this ratings business. Not negging ITKs is just common sense, even if you legitimately disagree or don't like something they say. But at the same time, it always shocks me why anyone gives a flying f**k how someone rates your posts.

Tbh I didn’t realise the itk that they where the only club interested ?
But I still stand by the stance of don’t strengthen a rival especially if they won’t sell to us

Almost none of the players we're purported to be chasing are at the World Cup. While I appreciate agents have multiple clients which can spread them thinly, the World Cup compressing much of the transfer business to 16th July-9th August may count in our favour this time - say for the sake of argument we go in big for Martial, Grealish and De Ligt (which would be the 150, or so) we could get them done for pre-season.

It won't be that easy, as detailed elsewhere, of course... And I do wonder if we'll have a couple of surplus names on 10th August that we'll spend the next three weeks hawking around Europe.

Perhaps A&C could add a summary of Trix' post to the OP each day just to remind folks of how complex and multi-faceted the market is?

Can I on behalf of my fellow lurkers, say a big thank you to Hercules, Trix, and any other Itk-ers who take the time to post on here. Please don't worry about the few who don't appreciate you, as the majority of us respect and cherish your info.
Back to lurking now.

Don't forget that the window ends early this year and we have the small matter of a month long tournament that happens to be the biggest competition in world football on the way.

Let's assume that transfer business pretty much stops during the world cup (which it won't entirely but will for any players in it) then we have basically 3 weeks.

I think it's a bit early to be panicing but I can understand why people are.

People see the World Cup on the schedule and get all mad when we don't sign anyone before it starts. Any rational agent is gonna be telling his clients (that are participating in the WC) to stay put until after the tournament, that's how it always is. A good showing at the World Cup often means a player can ask for higher wages and it'll drum up interest from clubs who weren't interested before/were only slightly interested, it just makes business sense to wait until after for a move. Spurs will hardly be the only team doing most/all of their business after the World Cup.

Jesus. There is some serious oestrogen in here tonight.

I can’t quite understand how seasoned spurs fans and spurs community members are losing their shit so quickly.

We are going to lose our sources again if you lot don’t just STFU and enjoy the ride.

But don't forget we collectively know jack shit. We've nailed down a few new 1st team contacts according to ITK. Now they haven't been released, but that doesn't mean they're not done.

To keep @Everlasting Seconds analogy, it's like people are freaking out there'll be no Christmas because their parents haven't told 'em what their prezzies are! Ridiculous. If there's a week left in the TW and still no big signings, sure let's flip out by all means, but is patience too much to ask?
