At least if city come calling for modric we can ramp the price up to £80m+.

That'll either scare them off, or they'd be silly enough to pay it and then we'd have a WAR CHEST!!!!!!!!

Mmmmm, £80mil........

Falcao £25mil
gervinho £14mil
Leandro £12mil
Parker £6mil
Eriksson £15mil

Total: £74mil

......hypothetical speaking of course....

Except if we let Modric go none of the above would be interested in moving to a club that sells its best player (except Parker).

If we sold Modric for £80m, we may as well cash in on Bale and vdV too, use the £150m to pay for the stadium and try to stave off relegation long enough to rebuild, then try to get back in the CL within 10 years.

We should go back for Rossi and Aguero...Coz apparently we were in for them on January.
If Aguero ends up in Chelsea, then we should get Drogba! ;-)

Speaking of relegation! What's gonna happen to W-Ham bid for that Olympic Stadium?
Does it still stand strong?

While this may be very mouth watering, you forgot the wages. Yes we could buy them but could we pay all their wages?

I did realise that none of that is realistic, just some wishful thinking while (hopefully) a new signing shows up.

Unusually, I'm with you on this.

Don't think we'd be staving off relegation though, more like another few years of mid-table obscurity which, let's face it, most of us on here are used to anyway.

I am really hoping for that big name signing, if anything it might show Modric this year that we mean business and the "quotes" might slow down a tad. If I was Modric I would be interested in who the club were bringing in and if it is no one of any real purpose then I might start making noises about a move.

Charlie gave an interview not long ago where he said Luka was happy at the Lane, but would be watching closely who we bring in this Summer - he wants us to show real ambition (maybe even Real Ambition:eek:mg:).

I think the implication was that exciting signings and qualifying for CL next season would keep him settled for several years. Cheapo Charlie signings and failing to qualify for the CL next season would probably seem him off next Summer (but not this).

p.s. Wouldn't your UserName have that bit more pazazz if you called yourself the MilkyBarYid:shrug:

I think this summer is massively important. I will be very angry with both Levy and Harry if we fail to show ambition. I won't be complaining if we bring in a top player and it doesn't work out, but if we don't even take a risk I'll be disgusted.

p.s. maybe he changed it after seeing that David Baddiel film

I don't actually buy the "qualify for the CL and Modric will stay line". A player of his quality should be competing for and winning the league and CL, not just aiming to qualify for it.
