Just a thought, but maybe these suddenly much higher transfer fees we are rumored to be offering for Carroll are part player.

Crouch and £15mil for example. Either that or i would guess they are structured so that we only pay maximum £20mil initially with loads of add ons.

Bothroyd is signing for them, but is that really the replacement for Carroll?

There is far too much smoke in this one for there not to be fire. the bookies have tumbled the odds over the week.

He keeps saying his fit then the club say he aint.

...and even the moose told us hes coming! :razz:

It would take those figures mentioned and thats even if Carroll would infact consider the move in the first place.

This is what makes me think there's something in this one. More often than not what the bookies are doing is a bigger indication of movement than the crap in the papers.

Everton have never said such a thing & ssn said "they understand" which means they've been reading message boards....

Fair enough, SSN do 'understand' many things that turn out to be total bollocks.

If I rememember rightly they told us how we were about to sign Duff just before Newcastle agreed terms with him.

Let's remember how quick we are to give our ITK's the benefit of the doubt when things change or there info has been wrong. Why is it anything different to SSN or the papers? If anything they have it worse. ITK's are completely anonymous and have no way of verifying sources.

I'm hating this window. We top our CL group yet end up aiming our sights at Pienaar, Caroll and Neville.

None of them are shit, but none of them are top drawer. We need top drawer to improve.

Andy Carroll is this years Darren Bent ... will sign for stupid money and will either be crap or in jail within the next 12 months.

2 years time, we'll be chasing the next so called English superstar, no doubt the fee will be pushing £30 million.

There's no way we can justify spending £20 -25 million on Carroll ... he's had all of half a season in the prem ... it's ridiculous.

Not so much when it comes to signing players.

Ive heard that even if someone in say scarborough, puts a measly 50 on a manager or transfer story, the odds will tumble.

But this one seems to reflect the general feeling up in the north east. Its interesting that the reports all mention it being the talk of the training ground

I know it's a lot of money but Carroll would be an immense signing for us. With all the skillful little players we have in midfield and on the wings someone like him will give us fantastic balance upfront and in the team as a whole.

I know we need a striker upgrade, but where is the sense in paying 30million(allegedly) for a championship player having a bit of a purple patch? I know Suarez is unproven in the PL, but at least he's shown that he's capable in Europe and internationally.

Given the choice, I'd rather stick with what we've got that blow 30 large on Neolithic man.

its amazing that £30 million for the so called "right player" is called into question by some fans, but in the same breath they disregard the £200 million difference in stadium builds.

Championship player? What utter rubbish.

He'll go on to be twice the striker Suarez is in the next couple of seasons and he's already better than him now imo.

As for Suarez being proven in Europe and Internationally......:rofl:

Exactly, he is the right player.

The rose tinted foriegn player love in on here is to be expected but dissapointing none the less.

I'm not convinced he is the right player. Especially at £30m.
