Suarez all day for me. Fits in with our style of play, intelligent enough to drag defenders out of position and make room for the midfield, scores all sorts of goals, works hard and is certainly no midget. Think he has the technical ability to hold on to the ball as well. Carroll doesn't fit in with our style of play. People moan when crouch plays as we go long. We'll do that even more with Carroll.

"Suarez shits over Andy Carroll."

Well maybe he does, but i dont think their chosen sexual preferences should have any part in a discussion of their relative footballing merits. Or maybe thats just me?

It's just a matter of time and which club now regarding Pienaar, If he's not even in the squad then he is off.

SSN Confirm, SP not even in squad... and 'big transfer news' coming up... so probably nothing!

Same quotes from a few days ago from Suarez. Probably won't stop SSN badging them as 'breaking news'.

In ITK news, I hope our Rangers are ready to update lots of forthcoming announcements about Pienaar that rhyme with the words "Bun Beal". I sense there will be some before the day is out, even though the announcement might not be made for a couple of days, if indeed at all.

What does Carroll offer that Pav and or Crouch doesn't?

If you say heading of the ball, then you have to consider A) the way we play (i.e. not the long ball into the box approach that Newcastle use) and B) the quality of the crosses we supply into the box.

Carroll's more of a goal threat than Crouch is. Crouch's highest prem. league total is 12. Carrolls got 11 already this season hasn't he? With coaching and experience I think his scoring will improve, although he could be a one season wonder so who really knows?

I'm fairly sure this lone striker role thing is a load of tosh. The last time we played a lone striker role it was with Darren Bent, who is every bit as good as Carroll at that role - didn't work for us as our team isn't set up to play that way, i think with our current players it's even less set up for that style of play.

I do completely agree with this! Why this obsession with "the lone striker"?

Because everybody sees negative shitty teams play that way and want to replicate their direness. Then they say its a 4-3-3 to make themselves feel better. But only Barca and Real Madrid (sometimes) do it well. Otherwise its abject.

VDV is a FORWARD here. I don't care if he was a winger at Ajax and a wonderful #10 playmaker for HSV....he's a second striker here and we play beautifully that way. Why anyone would want to change that is (F)riggin (M)ystery. Stupid game.

I also see Carroll as more determined going for the ball. Too many times I have thought that Crouch and Pav don't put themselves around much and we miss on chances.

Premier league goals are fine, but in his 12 non league career games he's scored 2 goals, so you can't pick and choose the bits you like.

Carroll may well turn out to be an excellent player, but there's no way this can be judged purely on a pretty good (but by no means prolific) 19 games this season.

Also he may well go on to score another 11 goals this season, or he may not. He could still feasibly end up scoring the same as Crouch did above, in fact Crouch scored those 12 in 27 games, so if Carroll has a slow start back from his injury and then picks up a couple of knocks it's not inconceivable for him to get only a couple of goals in his next 8 appearances.

I would imagine (although don't have the stats to hand) that Crouch gets more assists than Carroll.

I like Carroll though and if he was available for £15m i'd say it's worth the punt, but not at a penny more.
