Hope disco doesn't leave. I think we'll struggle to find much better without paying over the odds. If anything i think Walker was the weak link last season.

Walker has his faults, but he was still much better for our style of play last year. BAE looks a bit lost as soon as he gets the opposition's final third. Unfortunatley I don't think he's going to get back to his form of 2/3 seasons ago and we should cash in. Need a LB who is more direct when attacking. I'm happy to have Rose in battle with a new LB for a starting spot.

People - keep saying Vermaelen! But seriously guys, he would not entertain an offer from us and was ridiculed by Arsenal fans for his perfomances last season. Also, just like Vertonghen, he does not like playing LB - a complete non-starter for me!!!!!

Both had poor parts of the season, yet we all know they can do better. Walker improved towards the end of the season, and for some reason i think i remember seeing something about BAE having a slight injury, which may have been why he was poor and in and out of the team.

I can understand the decision to let him go, as he didn't have the best season. Rose did well in a struggling Sunderland side, and Jan can also play LB, so we can look to bring Rose into the fold with Verts as cover. We can then take our time getting a quality replacement, or bring in another versatile CB/LB like Vermalen.

Christ, Walker pissed all over BAE last year, Benni was largely diabolical, although it cant have done his mental state any good seeing Kyle Naughton picked ahead of him, that's enough to send anyone sideways. Don't want him to leave though, would prefer we just nurtured him back to his form of the previous year. Still back him massively over Rose.

Im not saying i want him - but Arsenal Fans are even more fickle than ours - they make their own players cry. Their fans assessment of players is not something i go by most notably proven by the 2/3 years they spent years claiming Scezney was the best GK in the world.

I think Rose will expect to start. I am not convinced by him - or BAE and Walker for that matter. I would like us to buy some really high quality defenders, if we cannot grow them ourselves. I don't know why we do not expect as much from our defence as we do from our strikers. That seems to be the way though. But if the other side can't score, they sure as hell can't beat you. Kaboul may come back good I know, we have Verts, and Lloris is fantastic. It's the rest I worry about!

I still think he's a better player than Rose by some distance, even though Rose fits the way we assume AVB wants to play; i.e. wide forwards overlapped by attacking full backs. IF we're letting him go -and unfortunately it makes sense if we do- I'd assume we're looking to bring in a new LB with Rose as cover. Jan is a decent LB, but a world class CB, and that's where he should play.

If we sell BAE we'll need 2 new left backs unless we are planning to use Vertonghen as cover because Rose patently isn't good enough.

As much as I like Disco B, I think it would be best for both parties if he moves on this summer. He was brilliant under Harry when he was given some creative licence, but I don't think he suits the more disciplined, tactical approach of AVB, and his form has been patchy at best this season. At 29 this is could be our last chance to get good money for him and if we get offered anything north of £7 mil we'd be foolish to say no.

Don't see why people are thinking that we'll sign a LB.
Rose was the best player in a bad team last year, has matured as a player & can slot right in.
Every team has a few indians to go with it's chiefs & he's more than capable.
He's only 22 & most people's negative perception of him stems from when he was a young, inexperienced player playing in an unfamiliar position. Lot of water under the bridge since then plus a whole season in the Premiership. His development is perfectly timed to come and step in for us this coming year.
Benny goes & it's a good few quid towards other more pressing player issues & we have ample cover, it's really not an area we're vulnerable.

Burgers? Reminds me of the time outside Villa Park when one of my mates went up to one of the vans and asked "have you any burgers left?". The guy replied "Yeah, plenty". To which he got the reply "serves you right, you ****!".

Oh well, guess you had to be there....

More importantly, so do we reckon that the itk is bernard and that he's settled on coming to Spurs if we cough up that additional bit of moolah?

Benny - if we can get the cash then I say bye.

IMHO Rose is not going to improve us as a team and we shouldn't be disrupting our 1st choice CB pairing by playing Verts at LB.

I believe that Kaboom and Verts will make a great pairing and being settled at CB will make a big difference to us next year. We need a top class LB with Rose as cover.
