It will be a relief to see us actually nail down one of these targets. It's been a long few weeks since Alderweireld signed! There's been an unfortunate disconnect between confident ITK and deals being finalised, but I think this one looks good.

ITKs deserve plenty of credit on this, especially the olympic cabbage greeting card cryptic from the Goat!

Take this to the Soldado thread please ... where it is obviously being discussed.

Twitter from players etc is welcomed in the players threads. I'm not about to explain our position on this yet again nor the reasons why we have that policy IN THIS THREAD. I've done that too many times.

If its already in the players thread and its already being discussed in said thread how many places does it have to be?

I'm done now, i'm done with warnings, repeating the rules and worrying about being a **** by removing someone's access. It's all ending up with me getting so pissed off that this thread gets over moderated and isn't fun any more. I actually dread starting each thread and fuck that, this is supposed to be fun.

In future i'm just going to remove access and be done with it. And if you find yourself out, here's my response to your complaints in advance.

Meh.

with the seemingly imminent departure of Soldado and Trix info on Carroll, I am thinking we could even see more than 4 possible departures until the window shuts:

- Soldado
- Carroll
- Fazio
- Lennon
- Ade

We've also had ITK on Andros leaving if I am correct. (Was it Ali Z that stated there was a big offer on the table?)

Busy times at the club surely.

It's actually astonishing how many players the club can afford to get rid of without impacting the team negatively. Our recruitment team was an absolute shambles.

Yup. We had/have so much deadweight it's unreal. I'm hoping Lennon is not far behind Soldado and the club is viewing N'Jie as the replacement for Lennon and obviously we would be looking at another player (Berahino/Hernandez) to replace Soldado.

TBH when a new man comes in he will always want his own players. Look at Man U. Apart from around 3 players its massively unrecognizable from Fergies team.
I doubt we would see so much upheaval if Poch is here for a few more years.

The one reason I refuse (perhaps naïvely) to believe that it's the "same old Tottenham" is that we have actually rid ourselves (and are potentially close on others) of lots and lots of squad members that were, for want of a better phrase, thieving a living.

A younger and almost by default hungrier squad is exactly what I think we need. In the words of Brian Fantana ...

This cull should also mean, that for the next few windows we can concentrate our time fairly exclusively on incoming deals.

And we do not seem to be rushing in headfirst to get replacements. It just feels 'considered' and I'd guess that if we don't get our specific targets we will wait until the next window and pinpoint targets again rather than bagging some 2nd rate stop gap. The ITK seems to have been quite consistent on the fact that we have identified targets and are prepared to be patient.

One perspective is bad recruitment. Other perspective is good academy development. I don't think we would have nerve to let go of so many deadwoods, if not for the faith in ability of our academy/development center kids.
