Not to piss on Jasper's bonfire, but JJ says on Twatter that it isn't what he's hearing...

I can see Lewis putting in a bit to allow us to take an advance on the TV and Bale cash, with the knowledge that after FFP is fully introduced, the club will probably be aiming to produce profits.

Realistically, our business isn't going to be as expensive as it sounds- Holtby, Capoue and Paulinho replace Jenas, Livermore, Parker and Hudd, Chadli replaces Bentley and Dempsey, even Soldado is going to be covered in part by the losing the higer earning Adebayor. There is a definite improvement, Soldado aside, in inherent value to the players coming in. Leaving Bale aside, we'll buy a centre back who can play right back, covered by Caulker and Gallas, a left back, covered in part by Benny, and we will see who is available in the last few days cheap as ever. Assuming the outs are as they are here, the net spend is going to be high, but I doubt the wage bill will rise dramatically, if at all, after a period when we have been running a higher wage bill. That spend will be amortised over the term of the new TV contract, a term that will hopefully include CL football and very likely a world record transfer free being received. The objection would be the need for cash in advance, and I can see Lewis stepping in there, but it wouldn't really be the sort of sugar daddy stuff rumoured (but I can see how Lewis advancing a bit of cash against future profits might get translated that way).

After all, if the money was available, with or without Bale, why muck up the Benteke and Bernard transfers for the sake of a few million?

Who says we "mucked them up", there is a huge difference between over paying for a player and paying the player's worth. We paid more for Soldado than was mooted for either Bernard or Benteke so were obviously willing to pay his worth.

As i said yesterday, the feeling is that Madrid dont have the money or the acceptable terms and that Gareth will stay...even legends dont know whats going on....

Poor choice of words. If Lewis was thinking like Jack Walker, would we have found the extra ten million total that would have got us both? No.

If we sign Willian and Lamely then I would imagine Lennon and Townshend are off.

Can not see that happening.

@eddiesfootyblog I wanted to get all the facts before just using my opinion!
JJs last comment could mean several things but imo JJ isnt saying Jasper is wrong, just that he himself hasnt heard the Lewis rumors.

I don't believe we would have necessarily, if we believed they were overpriced, why would we needlessly overspend on them?

I wish people would understand that despite Lewis appearing to release some funds to us, we will not be over-paying for players. The reason we baulked at Villa's price for Benteke and AM for Bernard was because they were crazy valuations that meant we would be taking massive gambles if we signed them. Just because we have money to spend doesn't mean we will be wasteful.

Over paying for players doesn't show ambition, just stupidity.

JJ hinted himself that GB may stay and a Plan B spend.

He is obviously just toying with Eddie so he doesn't copy and paste into his footie blog.

So from Atlanta YId's info we should have £50m + £30m(tvmoney) +£20m(ish) from outgoings + whatever we had in the kitty already say £30m including Modric money, so are we looking at a conservative estimate of £130m without even bothering with any Bale money?
No wonder we ain't grabbing at anything Real Madrid might offer, you can only spend so much in one window.
Mindboggling!!!

Anyone else think that the protracted Bale saga is really about Bales new contract? Bale wants to stay another year but only if he can sign a new contract with a water-tight release clause so Spurs have been putting stories out that they'll only consider bids over £100m for him to increase his value in said clause. Both sides playing a game of poker at the moment waiting for other side to give ground.

Not his fault that everything he states gets ported across but those JJ tweets are saying absolutely nothing!

'Not what i'm hearing' could mean that he is hearing absolutely anything apart from Lewis is keeping Bale and spending including maybe even that part of it is true and 'I wanted to get all the facts before just using onion' suggests that at the point of the tweets he doesn't know much but may endeavour to find out.

People are just looking for things when they're not even there!
If he's found some gold in the hills he'll bring it over i'm sure.

Haha funny how we always want more! I reckon people were over the moon when we heard we'd spend 50m....then its 70,80,100 and now 130m!!!.....without cashing in on Bale!!!

Think some people need to rein it in a bit! They'll only set themselves up for misery when/if it doesn't happen. Lets try not work out the financials by putting a number on it because lets face it......we don't fuckin know!

Enjoy the ride!
