Be interesting to see what kind of an increase KWP ns Sanchez got in their new contract, I believe this is all about the new stadium and the increase in turnover and this will run right through the squad with a pay rise for everyone.
Watershed moment and maybe day one of a whole new era.

Wouldn't get carried away just yet. Sanchez was hardly top of the priorities for new contracts. Obviously delighted with the news but there's not much evidence of a corner being turned yet until Poch, Kane, Eriksen, Alli, Son etc are signed up.

KWP did say in his response to a new contract “When you have a manager that you know has faith in you, it gives you confidence." , these new contracts sound like good news on the Poch front even with no cuddly photos.

Since there is talk of "more to come", I reckon we will see new contracts for the following.

Summer renewals: Kane, Dele, Eriksen, Vertonghen, Hugo, Onomah (if we decide to keep him after pre-season)

Mid season renewals: Dier, Davies, Son

And am I correct in assuming that these new contracts won't be deducted from the £150,000,000 War Chest?

Well deserved new deal for Davinson. Unreal debut season at 21. Special talent. Will be one of the best around no doubt.

Hoping this means there are many new deals in the offing.

With Sanchez, De Ligt, and Foyth we'd have three of the best young CB talents in world football, and we'd still have Vertonghen marshaling the back line. That defense could prove to be a bit more error-prone than the Toby/Vertonghen partnership in the short term but in time we'd be setting ourselves up to have potentially one of the best back lines in Europe.
No you're right about potential but what about those big games in the CL? At times we lacked concentration that can often come from experience.

If De Ligt came in i'd rather we brought Dier back into defence and loaned out Foyth to give him some games. Short term i'm not entirely comfortable with Verts, Sanchez, De Ligt and Foyth in a situation where Vertonghen has a long injury layoff.

I don't read too much into either contract - both are good news though.

KWP - this essentially buys 1 more year for both sides to evaluate things

Sanchez - was already on a 6-year deal (5 remaining) - but probably on wages more in line with a rotation option. Now he is on a new 6-year deal with wages more in line with a starting CB.

Agree, not bad news but these were probably signed and sealed weeks ago, club obviously decided to announce today because of all the shite in the press over the last few days.

Maybe ALL the newly signed contracts will have one big cuddly picture together in the new kit, with Poch in a new suit, at the new stadium?

It would suggest there is new money for contracts though as we wouldn't be shelling out lots more money on less important contracts like these two if not.

I take it as a positive step and expect plenty more new contracts over the coming days and weeks.
