Just opinion though, yeah?

Sounds like it. It's not contradictory to ITK, but just a little more grounded perhaps.

I guess the caveat all along has been "if" no one bigger comes in for him (which some, I guess, think will happen)

Where would a player like Berahino fit into the team? Don't get me wrong, we need another striker so we're not completely reliant on Kane, but has Poch ever shown any intention of changing his system to play two central forwards? Berahino isn't a winger, so I can't see him being more than a back-up for whoever we play in those two positions. More importantly, he's not a lone striker either (he's very similar in style to Defoe and playing him on his own rarely worked). Why, then, would/should we pay £20m+ for a player who, if everyone is fit, wouldn't start? Or do people think Poch will completely change the way he lines the team up?

My source telling me njie done stop panicking boys
Berahino 97.36% done. Just small hurdle of west brom accepting 10m less but as window draws to close they will come down by 7.35m to get deal done

Lastly special Real Madrid relationship means illarenendi is ours. Initial loan with deal for 14m euros and 5 year deal on 62,450 per week.

What do you mean he's not a winger? He played on both wings last season as well as up front. It is possible that players are good enough to play in more than one position.

Supposedly on €48K (£34.1K) a week now.

I was about to post that Illarra probably wouldn't be on too ridiculous wages at Madrid. He may have a had a big transfer fee, but he was bought quite young and from a club that isn't rolling in money as well. Having said that, I'm surprised at that figure. Would've thought he would be on about 50k a week at least just now. Madrid are quite canny with their wages for players that are below their top rung of stars.

Seen a few people mention our "special relationship" with Real Madrid, but didn't we confirm it had ended?

If anything works in our favour, it's that Madrid still owe us money for both Modric and Bale. Could drive the asking price down a fair bit and free up some additional wage space for him if necessary.

I'm aware of that. But I don't think he's one of those players

Well that FTL info was very specific on Saturday re. wages, length of contract etc. No smoke without......
Still can't tell if he was taking the piss or not though, the numbers for ridiculously specific that surely very few people would know

Haha. Gotta a good laugh out of that. Yep, £10m is definitely a small hurdle:rolleyes:. WBA will come down £7.35m later in the window? Hah. Remarkably specific. Can he see the future? Highly doubt anyone at Spurs knows exactly what WBA is thinking with Berahino. And the "special relationship means he's ours" stuff? Uhh, clubs cant force players to come if they'd rather go elsewhere and Levy said like a year ago that the special relationship is no longer in effect.

In other words, this is completely hogwash and the guy is either pulling our legs, or his leg is getting pulled.

I've never seen anything so specific.

I think most people would agree this is likely the case, but the worry is that we might be willing to wait longer on Illaramendi, due to him being Poch's preference(according to trix). Waiting too long could then potentially lead to us losing our chance with other players who might be of similar quality, like a Bender or Kramer, and might leave us without a DM. Certainly a valid concern, IMO. And it wouldnt be the first time we end the summer short at a position of need.

I'm not being offensive here ys, but the above is a perfect example of how the simplest information can be misinterpreted. Trix said MP likes him a lot, I don't recall any mention of him being a preference, particularly as no one at the club thought he was even available, including Poch.
Other ITK has alluded that we are, or have been, working on other options, those being Bender and Kramer.
To date, I haven't really seen too many who don't think any of those would be a significant upgrade. In all honesty, I can't see that he wouldn't be content with any of them.

I do agree that it needs to be done though, as it is a key position that really should make the team tick.
