Fair enough. Wasn't bashing. Just wondering as he is so highly regarded by everyone.

But then I remember when others were sucked off left right and centre and they turned out to be tits.

To be honest. I can't recall what JJ has recalled correctly as I am not a religeous reader of ITK.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

He's genuinely on the money. Most impressive was our Kiwi CB on deadline day out of nowhere when nobody had even got wind of it.

My reason for thinking Moyes is the most likely option by the way is that I believe the club are looking to the long term which Harry obviously wasn't, Blanc and Deschamps are terrific coaches and I'd be happy with either I just think neither would take the job reckoning on staying for the next ten years...

Are you seriously suggesting you think Moyes will be at his next club for 10 years? it's highly unlikely imo. If he came to us and did a half decent job, he'd be even more likely to get a gig at MU, wouldn't he?

JJ is good because he doesn't give it large, he posts the info when he has it and its usually well measured.

We have heard this blue and yellow crap and noodles little bloody poems for years and its so annoying

So what has JJ called right? he isn't in the log... is fairly new on the ITK scene... but everyone takes his word as gospel.

called Nelson before anyone had even thought of it

his info is generally top notch in my opinion.....obvious he has a major insight at the club

He's got form so yes I do.
If he only did a half decent job they wouldn't want him, if however he did a very decent job we'd be winning titles with a new stadium and very likely big finances so it wouldn't be the big jump it seems now, remember it would be Utd minus SAF. That said if Man Utd were a likely destination for him there wouldn't be many others as there would with the foreign coaches.

Got the Krasic situation spot on too, everything he said was confirmed by Redknapp after the Wigan game. Not saying he can't be wrong, but I haven't seen him be wrong so far.

well, er... of course it would, or he wouldn't be going. ;)

He did say at the beginning of last summer that we wouldn't be signing Ade, because Gallas had advised us not too. A change of mind by Levy and co, rather than being wrong, I think.

OK, for what it's worth, here's my take on the latest ITK from Jacob whilst trying to put it together with what we do know or can reasonably surmise.

Jacob has said that "Joe and Danny have BIG plans this summer". Now we know that we need a new manager, 2 strikers, possibly a GK to replace Gomes (who as far as I remember is out of contract) and we are about to complete / have completed (but not announced) Vertonghen.

If the new manager is under contract it will mean compensation to his club. Any new manager would want to bring in some players of his own choosing and the Board of THFC would want to make good progress with the new stadium coming over the metaphorical horizon. IMHO (NOT ITK) the Board would want to make a bold statement by appointing a well known, top notch manager - especially as Harry is / was the media's darling. I read that as being they would really not want to appoint someone who does not have at least a respectable track record i.e. not too much of a risk and so it would rule out a lot of managers.

That all adds up to a committment of mega bucks, quite possibly an amount that would normally have been beyond our budget and hence to involvement of nice Uncle Joe! The 2 GOOD new strikers on their own could cost as much as £40m - £50M, who knows?

So taking all things considered, IF the big plans come off, there could well be a lot to be excited about. The first piece in the jigsaw should be the manager and as soon as that is tied up (not necessarily announced) then the player purchases could commence as per the managers shopping list.

Thoughts?

What will take us to the next level is Lewis breaking open his piggy bank so we can compete with our rivals on salaries. I'm dubious that the manager will make a huge amount of difference.

That would amount to, what, a doubling of our annual wage budget? Wages have gone from ridiculous to obscene over the past couple of years. Even Arsenal, whom it would be nice, but optimistic, to compete with financially are continually blown out of the water by the Citeh's and Ch$lski's.

I think we'll keep our wage budget but it would be a nice gesture if Ol' Joe were to fork out for a Damaio here or a Ganso there. The kind of players who would probably come in below the £100kpw bracket.

Because it's you?

No. Although he doesn't seem the type to be on here, lead people down a merry route and in fairness POTL has a lot of things that he wouldn't or shouldn't know?

I do think he has a role at the club and more than likely within the marketing/player liaison function. Prob wrong but my hunch anyhow

I think the reason he isn't in the log is that he asked not to be.

As mentioned he called the Nelsen deal about 6 hours before the press or any other ITKs, and also the Saha deal. Lots of other ITKs said we were going to spend lots of money but JJ came in and almost apologised for saying we were getting Nelsen and Saha on free contracts.
