The Leandro saga dragging on for a couple of years and the Sandro transfer being a pain in the arse could well be how Internacional do their dealing rather than south american teams overall. The chairman of Corinthians has pretty much said straightaway that a deal is to be made and there are quotes of some sort already from both players. This is a positive in my eyes and with Baldini there or thereabouts maybe we actually are on the verge of having another couple of Brazilians! Dealing with Inter has been like watching a fat kid at an all you can eat chinese buffet, there is just no end in sight. I'm hoping this time we get in do the deal and go on an crush the (supposed) top 4 clubs midfields for years to come

You are not suggesting by any chance that some Chairman or clubs are more difficult to deal with than others? :cautious: As it happens the ITK talks about us also moving goalposts as the process goes along.

This smiley ----> :grumpy: reminds me of some people on here

I realise this one is from our menu, but do you really have an inexhaustible library of emoticons? There seams to be one for every occasion...

Yeah that is true, I just feel that we haven't had such a protracted, either buying or selling, possible transfer with anyone as much as we have with Inter

As much as I am literarily waking up every morning with every finger and toe crossed in the hope we have signed Bernard and Paulinho I just can't help but think we will end up Gareth Barry and Ji-Sung Park. It feels like the more time that passes, the greater the rummers grow the less likely we are to get them... We got linked to Lamela the other day, probably get Joey Barton instead, he played in France last season you know!!! Makes him like an international and that innit!

Been burned toooo many times.

Suggest you look at the news this morning smart arse.

I'm not usually one for defending SM (he can do that himself), but I think there was a strong sense of irony in his comments. I think it was precisely because he had seen the news that he wrote that response. Maybe I'm wrong and he was being a tit, maybe I was correct and he wasn't being a tit or maybe I was right but he's still a tit! You decide, but I'm sure it was light hearted. (y)

imo it's not just the matter of buying, but also sth to do with regulations on work permit (ie. int. caps, etc.) as well, which make the already complicated transaction even more complicated. Yet, they are dealing with Mr. Daniel Levy, who is apparently not the easiest person to make a deal with.

Don't have work permits any more. Its done by a panel.:)

Been unable to post for the last 7-10 days as I've been busy with work, but have been trying to keep up to date reading the thread - things are certainly getting interesting ! All for Paulinho and Bernard. Paulinho will most definitely increase our depth and options in the middle, and move us towards having two players for each position.....

3 CMs - Sandro, Paulinho/Guarin, Dembele, Holtby, Parker ?, Carroll. Something like that would give us great options and depth. It could obviously be moved around a little eg Parker sold, Carroll out on loan, Sigurdsson getting games as the most advanced CM etc etc, but we are moving in the right direction if we secure some of the targets mentioned.

I still think that pulling out of the Damaio deal is strangely enough our best route to getting him. Make Internacional really sweat on the demands they have made, then hopefully Damaio sees the Brazilian influence at the club increase and is even more eager to come = us finally getting him for a reduced fee of around 15m odd.

The AVB and Bale stuff might seem a little alarming to some, but its all part of the roller coaster ride and I'm not personally worried by it.

I like your thinking regarding Damiao.

These targets are promising, Paulinho, Dembele and Sandro will be an immense trio. I do think that we need creativity that those 3 can't provide, and hopefully a player like Bernard or Lamela (doubt it but just an example) will provide that. Regardless, that trio will leave opposition midfielders feeling the pressure.

JJ is a great source of info but he's also called AVB etc a fraud before, he is a bit trigger happy on the sensationalism even if his information is greatly appreciated and clearly in the know :)

A few weeks ago JJ said that 'the head boy has done his homework for him', regarding Baldini coming in having targets to go for - he doesn't need to know about players right now, just work from the list the manager has made.
