As I said in another thread. If we can get 70-80 million for the pair we would be mad not to let them go. But buy first, that would put us in the driving seat in negotiations. And about others spending big? So what? They did this year and had it not been for some extreme, EXTREME good fortune on Chelski's part we would have had CL sewn up. I wouldn't go tearing my hair out just yet. The spine of team will be there. No Modric? Not too bothered about it. Losing Bale would be worse but not the end of the world. I think next year our season will be even better.

You're going to have to spend that much, maybe more to replace them. players of that caliber command big fees and even bigger wages and certainly bigger than were paying them at the moment. I'd say we would be mad to sell them especially Bale.

Bale and Modric leaving sends out the wrong message to top players that would consider joining us and we will end up buying good players instead of great players and we will be battling it out for 6th.

If they want to leave they'll leave regardless. Did Ronaldo leaving spark and exodus at united? we have now finished 4th two years out of the last three. That's intent enough for me. And Bale didn't get us in the first time as he hardly ever played that year!

Exactly. I think we need to assess who wants to be here and who doesn't. If they don't so be it. Get in players of high quality for whom Tottenham Hotspur is a substantial upgrade. People talk of world class players and CL as if Messi was considering us prior to last last night...

But different as Utd were consitently challenging for and winning the highest honours. Being part of that is probably what stopped the "exodus". We can't say the same. We are "building" something but Pienaar believed that and turned down Chelsea, wonder how he feels today?

We know we are Definately building something but ultimately soon we need to start doing something to repay the faith. Next season will be VDV's 3rd season and Luka's 5th and will players be looking on thinking that they have had success in that time? I'm a believer in what we have at spurs but unless we can start competing, selling your best players will only lead to more following them out of the door.

I conceived my daughter in that run of games! It was a good week! That was the time when I first told my non spurs mates that we had a worldy on our books in Bale. None of them believed me!
