And does outgoing money (Crouch, Palacios, anyone this summer) get added to that number?

Plus Pav, Hutton ,O'Hara

Lloris is a truly unbelievable signing, so much so that I don't believe it

i agree.. people see lyon struggling in france, not sure if they qualifies for cl but people putting 2 and 2 togetehr and getting 5. ill believe we sign a keeper like this when it becomes offical and not before.

personally i think we will struggle to buy players before pre season bar maybe vertongthen. why would they want to join spurs?

You can see the draw of getting the deals done early before the Euros in the hope Modric and Bale can see where Spurs are heading before getting their head turned.

Although a small part of me wishes Levy meets with Modric every week saying (or printing pages of this thread out) there is something big happening, we’re going to spend £40m on Hazard to win the league and then Luka turns up to training on 1st September to see Grant Holt pull up in his Mondeo.

No. Those sales were used to offset the heavy investment made during Harry's first six months, which was 83 million pounds. And new sales will finally go towards new players which hasn't been the case the past two summers where until the last day of the summer transfer window we were losing about 45 million during Harry's tenure on transfers alone.

Lloris would really be a world class signing, a young keeper about to hit his prime and as someone said captain of national team.

Not going to happen though, at least that is what I am building myself for but if you think about it:

City - Hart
United - De Gae
Liverpool - Reina
Chelsea - Cech
Arsenal - Chesney Hawks
Newcastle - Krul
Madrid - Casillas
Barcelona - Valdes
Inter - Cesar
Juventus - Buffon
Bayern Munich - Neuer

Most of the top teams have a world class keeper who still has at least several years left, so I can't see many teams going for Lloris? I am not sure who AC Milan have? Abbiati? Not sure what he is like.

That makes pretty good sense.

The only team there that I'd make a case for Lloris would be Liverpool. Haven't there been hints of Reina maybe wanting out the past few years? They also pay higher wages, have a bigger European footprint, blahblahblah. The others you're spot on.

Lloris for a reasonable fee?
Vertonghen, Adebayor, and Remy look possible/likely?
Modric to RM for cash + player (you'd just know Harry would push for Diarra, meh)?

Hopes raised. Damn you, itk. Damn you all.
If we're planning to actually commit to a 4-2-3-1 system then we wouldn't need a direct replacement for Luka, but we would need another defensively minded midfielder who can play a bit. Obviously Alonso or Khedira would be the ideal choice from RM, but that ain't happening, so I'd not be against Diarra at all.

With all this talk of budgets etc, surely we can make a lot of money from player sales this summer, to offset our spending.
When you look at our squad, its massive in terms of players not needed and then also some younger players that we keep loaning out that at some point we have to make a decision on whether they will make the grade or not.

Gomes, Bassong, Jenas, Bentley, GDS, Pienaar, Krankjar, Corluka can be sold for a decent fee, without worrying about what will happen with Luka (whom personally i would shift to Real Madrid)

Wouldn't rule out PSG mind you.

If we went with a 4-2-3-1 system, then we already have Parker, Sandro, Huddlestone and Livermore, who can play the two holding player roles, so unless we are shipping one of those out as well, then i would swap Luka for a more forward thinking player who can unlock stubborn defences, KAKA would do!!

Can't see us getting Diarra. Wages were the big problem last summer so can't see it being any different now.
