I wonder how the footballing world perceives us as we squeeze every last drop out of the Aston Villa carcass
Well if any of them care enough, i'm sure another team could come along on a big shiny white horse and offer more than we are.

Personally think we will have at least 2 by next week Friday. I'm not itk! Just hopeful.
I think one more French player... martial or rabiot or pavard.

Gutted about Martial but if we are being honest it was always very unlikely we could have got him.

If the transfer fee being quoted for Martial is the stumbling block, we won't be getting Zaha.

We’ve been told constantly that the stumbling block isn’t the fee from all of the ITK guys.

The stumbling block is United not wanting to strengthen their rivals.

Hercules has previously stated that we're willing to pay the fee for Martial, so unless it's suddenly increase then I don't think the fee is the stumbling block.

Probably just sticking with Moura and Lamela after they destroyed Southend.

Unfortunately there is nobody in Martial's league when it comes to his quality and availability. The only one that could be worth going for is Zaha but he'd have to be at a realistic fee which I can't see Palace going for.

Martial is a big loss this window. He'd have seriously given us top class quality in our first XI. Instead Mourinho keeps a rival weaker, keeps his attacking options strong and sadly really effects Martial's chances with his national team. We'd have been a great fit for him and I think Jose knows that and doesn't want to jeopardise his reputation again after the Lukaku, De Bruyne &a Salah debacles.

The deal looks like the only beneficiaries would be Tottenham & Martial. No wonder Man United have decided not to sell

As I always insinuated, Danny Rose will be here. And he really does want to be here. Another reason, to replace him would be too expensive, and to sell him at the price we would get, opposed to what we would want, would be suicidal.

Yes, because we've definitely ONLY concentrated on Martial and probably haven't even scouted other targets... :shifty:

Didn't say that though, did I...

I'm sure we do have other targets but ITK pretty much said Martial was our number 1 target for that attacking position and that United are asking for a massive fee to deal.

Unless we've stumbled onto new information, what's changed for us to finally realise it's not going to happen?

In all honesty I think Poch meant more than the club handing out new contracts when saying he wants us to be brave.

If we've gone for Martial and not succeeded you can't really blame the club at all. He's the kind of player we should be targeting so it's good to see the club want to take that next step in doing so. He'd have smashed our transfer record

Maybe Levy interpreted "brave" to mean daring to not sign any significant upgrade and to challenge for top honours with a weakened squad.:)

Sorry to be so pessimistic about it all, but I think if we were actually willing to pay the fee that United quoted for Martial, he would already be our player.

If the goal posts have moved in regards to the fee, then so be it. But I'm only going off the ITK we've been given.

Hope @rebrab 's shout about our CM target coming out in the press over the next few days and cheering us up comes to fruition soon. This transfer window roller coaster is on a big drop right now!

*sees Barca have put a £20m price on Andre Gomes' head, knows how this ends*

To be honest, if potential Martial funds are being directed to CM then that's better news overall. Still think with Son away for a month or so then we might need to look at a forward but for me it's not as important as that midfield is.

Some good news at last. Hopefully he can regain his pre injury form.

Shame the same logic can’t be applied to the Toby situation, although I realise it goes a bit deeper.
