Amazing player on his day, but did our Scouting team do zero due diligence on this guy?

Talented but unmotivated just sounds like a disaster IMO - and defo seems to be going that way.

Totally agree. Did they only use Youtube? Such a basic mistake to make

So far, the performances of Skipp, Dele, and Sanchez have been like new signings in themselves.

And, if Kane stays, Son is good back up as long as we sign another wide man to cover him if he's up front.

We still need an insurance policy at the back in case Sanchez, Tanganga, and Dier start to struggle.

So I think a realistic shopping list of Tomi, Traore, and Aouar should plug the gaps (without being too expensive).

The only issue is binning off the excess players and hoping Levy is happy to accept players who won't feature in order to progress this season.

I suspect Tanguy falls into that category of footballer that doesnt really like football - his main motivations and ambitions have been to build a better life for himself and his family - now he has achieved that there is no ambition left
Nah, he just likes fried chicken shops
*Before anyone jumps at me that was from info last year.

Actually funnily enough your comment about not liking football actually might be what makes him such a unconventional guy skill wise. Maybe a couldn’t give a damn improves his skill set?

I think by the sounds of the targets at the moment we are almost letting this season go (whilst hoping for some European place) and building for the next couple of seasons with young players. To this end you can see us not investing in a striker just yet in the hope that Scarlet or Parrot come good. This, I am sure is the reason Kane is so keen to leave, knowing that he is not going to be competitive at spurs during his peak years. I fully understand him wanting out and support it (just not the approach). The rebuild is needed and will be a slow and frustrating period but the young talent we are looking at could be exciting in 3 years time so worth the wait. We are not a city or chelsea that can just keep buying top players at top dollar so this is the only way and, seeing the quality come through the youth is so much more rewarding.

News on Ndombele is infuriating. We need a new starting creative CM. Right now we'll be playing Skipp and Hojbjerg every single game, and Dele isn't good at CM.

Dragon:

Plan for Metz kid is he is going back on loan

I cannot see anyway Kane goes now both Martínez and Florentina striker went up massively in price even if city wen to 150 it’s a terrible deal for us

re Tanguy he just does not care we cannot get him motivated , getting our money back and finding someone to pay him 200k a week is not going to be easy but that’s what we are trying to do

i hope seeing this, and itk from other posters this the final straw for his most ardent supporters. the guy is just a waste of space, has all the talent in the world and just wants to piss it up the wall, id rather keep sissoko around the squad, at least he puts the work in.

How is Tanguy update a shock/surprise to anybody ? He literally had a 1v1 (through translator) on Amazon documentary with Levy on the same subject. Since watching that never been in his corner. He has to go and we have to somehow save the 41m we still have to pay him as wages over next 4 years.
No other club will pay that much for him + fee especially knowing we are looking to move him on. Best hope is, we send him on loan to a established club and he miraculously has a good season and beef up his value, so we can move him in 2022

What the hell has happened to the Tomiyasu deal?

It has seemingly been close since July and it appeared we were only a couple of million off?!

Have we shelved it and are putting the funds elsewhere? Or is this a repeat of the Nkoudou transfer and he's actually being stored in a cupboard somewhere to be revealed on the deadline day just to say that we managed to sign someone late in the window?

Started to fall apart the moment people learnt how to spell his name properly

The way his motivation yoyos from abject nothingness to sudden manic dedication and back again is the exact same problem I faced, symptoms of something that went undiagnosed and untreated for the vast majority of my life.

I got by on talent and occasional small, concentrated, bursts of productivity - until I suddenly hit a brick wall where that wouldn't be enough anymore.

I was earlier in his time here I suggested this and was absolutely slaughtered but I really do see a lot of my own troubles in him and hope he sorts it out eventually for himself even before the club.
Exactly this! I mentioned it in his thread as well - this is starting to sound very much like a situation much more complex than simply a "lazy" player.

Whilst I tend to agree with you, there was also the info the CL was of primary importance to us. We were/are going to try our best to achieve that. Maybe my assumptions were wrong in that I thought that meant we were going to throw a bit of money at it to try and achieve it. The hiring of Nuno in itself wasn’t a guarantee of this as he has little experience so it would have to come through the improvement of the squad. Even DL has admitted he had lost focus, and yet....

...to be continued.

Can we not offer a player silly wages as a way to get them to sign please. Tanguy is the perfect example of someone who only came because we offered 200k a week. Now we're stuck with him. It's funny that we have Kane wanting a move to City and we're holding him to his contract. Tanguy is rightfully holding us to his so can't really complain. The only way I see him going is on loan with us paying some of his wages.

Is it not possible to fine him say $200k/week for not doing his job?
Whilst I completely agree he is wasting his obvious talent, that is his choice to make. By all accounts he is holding his side of his contract up (turning up to training, would play if selected etc). No one forced Spurs to sign him on a lengthy contract for £200k a week. Likewise no one forced Kane to sign a lengthy contract. That’s the gamble of football. You win some, you lose some.

Well they either didn't which is indefensible or they did and felt it was a gamble worth taking.

In the case of the latter the club will have to take criticism for that gamble - it's been a shit show where blame will have to be held somewhere.

but when we miss out our targets due to wages levy would be slaughtered (and rightly so)

Having read the previous answers to your question, I have to say it's a question I keep asking myself, and I never get to hear any coherent answers. Surely, he's a quality centre back who can play equally well at right back, so he sounds to me like the perfect 'oven ready' replacement of Doherty and Aurier. I know Fabio is renowned for keeping loads of 'possibles' on the go at the same time and just goes for the best ones when he thinks the time is right, but if we don't watch out, we're going to lose out on him.
