So only Chelski in for Toby? Seems weird. 22m not enough for Barca - rather we keep him then and wont overpay for de ligt.
Read again. Chelsea are the only OTHER Club to enquire (so Man United are also in the race). Barcelona enquired a while back and offered a measily 22m, in which case I would prefer Man United IF it opens up Martial as an option, otherwise keep him and let his Min Fee clause become active.

That said, it all depends on Poch's plans. If Man United cough up big time, then that could fund the Players Poch really Needs for his plan. Yes Toby is great, but Poch may feel Toby's injuries or form, or future shelf life warrant the loss.

I can't remember anyone saying that but then again, guessing ITK sources is a game we've never encouraged, if the club watch this part of the site (and they do) they can do their own detective work because they ain't getting help from us.

Noted, was just something posted the other day. Will edit the post. Just came across as a bit damage control after the Mirror story.

If that's the case then you get the feeling that other clubs aren't as interested as he thought they'd be. Age and injury? Or perhaps it's just too early in the window?

I think at the age of 29 a £40-50m fee and £180k per week, with historical injuries is a risk but then he is quality

Don't know where the love for martial comes from? For me he isn't that much better than what we have. Rather invest the money in cm or de ligt.
But lets not turn this into a martial debate. I'll be in his thread if you want to.

I suppose Barca are reckoning that we don't want to sell to a PL rival, which will leave only bids from European clubs

And the list of European clubs that (i) want Toby and (ii) Toby will go to are limited

And the contract-clock is ticking

This tactic obviously hasn't worked for them, but who knows this summer; especially if they up the bid slightly

With United heavily linked it wouldn't surprise me if shortstuff was trying to push him that way as some sort of creative offset for any Martial deal. I think his loftiness doesn't care who we sell to as much as he cares about getting best value.

Also, Barca spend 145m on coutinho and expect to get Toby for 15% of that? They can go fuck themselves too.

Isn't it true that we can still sell players abroad after the window? That's got to be in Barca minds

Pretty sure more clubs will be interested if Toby plays well at WC. He will start every game for Belgium if fit.

sorry if posted
BEN on
asking 75m for toby: not true
on sellling to manu: no other club bar chelsea in for him barca bid 22 last season

If only Chelsea are in for him now, then I expect it will drag on for a while. He's still our player though, lets not forget that. Ball is in our court.

Makes you wonder where Martial is on the list of WF options. It's clear he is a target and has been for a long time.

I do believe Levy hates selling to Man Utd so getting Martial in return would save face. If we sell (even for big cash) and accept they won't sell us Martial then they have basically just patted us on the head like a child and sent us on our way.

Don't mess this up Levy.

Or he's going to try and push it past the English clubs deadline so that, if the player wants to leave this summer, the only route will be to a European club. Wouldn't be a bad tactic if we didn't want to sell to a rival. But yeah, you're probably right. He will sell to the highest bidder.
