ali z: Toby and his agents have priced him out of the market and utd won't give him 200 k a week either be lucky to get 150 k.
Too late for that
[back to negotiating with spurs] I think, his dad and the agent have burnt many bridges.

The second sentence is bang on. it went past just financials months ago.

Has Toby burnt all his bridges with us then?
If he came to the table with his tale between his legs, accepted whats on offer and worked hard within the squad, Id happily accept him back into the fold. We need players of his quality!!

Extremely unlikely.

Very interesting ITK. Thanks! Levy nor Pochettino strikes me as the forgiving kind. This will be an ongoing soap opera.

I'd take a situation where he stayed but didn't sign a new deal either. Another year of Toby could be crucial, and he's professional enough not to kick up a fuss. I know he could leave for £25m next summer but he will be 30 then, it wouldn't be a million miles away from his actual value.

You never know, if we win something he could be convinced to stay too.

Rather than Toby coming back tail ;) between legs i think he'll probably accept a lesser offer at a "bigger" club and then he can give the spiel about it "not being about money"

I wouldn't be adverse to keeping him for the season though to help further develop Sanchez and maybe Foyth.

Extremely unlikely.

That's a real shame considering his professionalism when on the pitch but the writing was on the wall when he was liking every single slither of social media related to spurs, seemed obvious to me it was a facade. Wish we could resolve it and keep a player of that quality.

Have any of the people keen for Toby to stay considered that Poch are worried he is in decline physically?

I know Jan is 2 years older and seems to be getting better and better, but every player's body is different. His class on the ball won't go, or his reading of the game, but it is possible that he has lost a step since that serious injury, and it has been seen in training?

I'd be happy if he stayed, but I'm starting to wonder if that's even what Poch wants.

Might be an unpopular opinion but Foyth looked unreal every time he’s played. If he played for Ajax he could quite feasably be worth a fortune! Why not use Toby money to purchase a young left footed (rather than right footed as De Ligt is) CB as a potential eventual successor for Jan Vertonghen?

An issue I see here is that people are savvy. Man United etc... will know we have a player who has burned said bridges and will play the waiting game as he can't realistically stay (as things stand). Toby will have to accept less and the clubs will try to force our hand on the fee.

Doesn't mean we will accept, but I feel this puts Toby and us a bit of a dissadvantage now.

Seem to recall that Toby let Poch down by changing his demands after Poch was batting for him in negotiations?

I think we have a few here who would be happy to be his daddy :cautious::ninja:
I open the bid with:
- Own bedroom,
- Competitive allowance
- 2 smaller Brothers who are keen on football
- At least one cooked meal a day

In all seriousness though I get the feeling this one is going to drag, especially with the WC.

The worst scenario for us: unlikely to get a big fee, and won't be in our own plans because his team have fucked around so much.

We are willing to sanction those deals (if they can be done relatively quick) before selling. We would then recover that through Toby, Sissoko, Serge, Wanyama, The 2 N’s, VJ, FL.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but who are "The 2 N’s"? Nkoudou and ...?

Disagree. We have so little in terms of attacking options off the bench. End of the season we had Lucas Lamela Sissoko and Llorente off the bench 3 of which in my opinion simply are not good enough! Pulisic is an upgrade on our options and also can act as cover for Eriksen
Pulisic has potential but he is not an immediate upgrade
