If we lose out on Willian, it's not all bad (well, not yet).

We still appear to be interested in Lamela and I'm hopeful that will happen. Chiriches is apparently back on. And I wouldn't rule out Coentrao until the window shuts. Honestly, if we brought those three in it would still be a fantastic window. If the creativity problem still exists come January, maybe we look to the market for someone despite the prices being inflated. I wouldn't write off Holtby's ability to produce for us. If he can show what he did at Schalke for us, no one will be complaining.

Sorry, but we hear this line every summer: "We can address x position in January". With the incoming Bale money, we have no excuses not to address our creativity problem NOW. And if we can't, then don't sell Bale. No more excuses, no more "let's wait 'til January". By January we might be off the pace, and then it'll be too late to fix anything.

wash your mouth out

we're not that different

europa league, title contenders and a lot more money than we used to have!

I wish we were not that different, but untill we start spending money like we have this year and keeping our best players its going to be inpossible to keep up with the chelseas and man citys.

Yeah, perhaps if he was called Townsendio we'd be interested.

I agree. I am not getting too excited after one match, but I honestly cannot remember him making one mistake last night. He ran with the ball when he should have ran, went past players and when it was the right time for him to pass he always played the correct ball, something that Lennon finds quite difficult.

He shone and gained confidence at the perfect time in his career last night, and lets hope he continues his progression and fulfills his potential!!!

Well Done Lad!

Secondly, Willian may well join Chelsea, its a money thing for him, why would he go to the Russian league. Not for football. Hes not even a regular for brazil. £30 mill is a bit steep IMHO

You make a good point, but I think the reason he went to Russia was that Anzhi offered Shaktar £30m, and we offered something like £12m.

We were not a choice for him, as we did not have a bid accepted.

Anyone out there whoring the other sites this morning? There's been that little actual ITK the last few hours that I'm actually considering doing some work at work for the first time in 3 weeks...

If there is a Spurs God then he will not sign for Chelsea.

As fans they are generally infuriating, ungraceful w*nkers that want to Lord it over us at any given opportunity. If Willian signs for them instead of us, they will be unbearable...

It may well be out of our hands but Christ almighty I've got everything crossed that he'll be a Spurs player soon.

Besides which apart from my own personal motives, I think he's a bloody good player and could very well be the creative spark that we need to compliment all of the other great signings we've made.

Let us pray...

No point speculating over Willian until something is actually announced. Lets just keep our fingers crossed.

Off to a mate's wedding in a while who is a spurs fan and sitting at a table for the meal with 3 more spurs fans and one gooner. Hopefully when I get to check later on things will have swung our way and more slagging of the gooner can ensue.

Barnett doesn't think Chelsea want Willian really, has links with Chelsea.

We have photos done. Guess we'll see.

Chelsea fans are f**king stupid though.

Not really. Signing Willian if it facilitates selling Mata and/or KDB getting less time is just a souped up version of us going for Tom Ince in order to sell Townsend/give him less time.

The most annoying thing about this is NO Chelsea fans want Willian.

Wouldn't it be great if the player himself cared about that? Universal acclaim by joining Spurs...universal indifference by joining Chelsea. I guess such things figure down the list, way below salary, bonuses, image rights, for many players. I'm not saying Willian falls into that category but his move to Anzhi suggests it and joining Chelsea might just about confirm it.

Who is Barnett? (Not Bale's agent or?)

Also Lamela is imperative but if Willian is a no go, I'd love us to target Yarmolenko.
