Levy will not like being seen as being 'beaten' by Chelsea for Willian.

Confident now he will be in extreme Levy-mode to deliver us Spurs fans something special

Julian Draxler has a £39.3m release clause

We only need an extra £10 million on top of what we were going to play for Willian.

I can see it now.

It's Daniel Levy here, we need an extra £10 million from you now before we release Bale! You've got 10 minutes!!

Has anyone suggested why we did the medical first and not the usual 'signed subject to medical'? Have we actually been caught with our pants down?
I discussed it earlier. Suggested to me that it was down to the timings of the Bale deal etc. Didn't want to commit and then get boxed in etc. Fair enough but that does go against the idea that the Willian and Lamela deals were not dependant on the Bale deal happening.

I could live with that tbh. The clincher being Bale's presence. In fact, that's what I want to happen now.

Make it so, DL!

slow mo high 5 freeze frame! bale imo is more important than ANY signings. i am willing to forgo any signings (including lamela) if he stays. for those who forgot how good he is, go to the bale thread and watch his 2012/2013 all goals. if we are not using bales money for lamela, seriously just get the erik duo, and fucking win the league.

It's hard not to be peeved. To be fair though it was the player and his agent that leaked the medical. Mourinho is playing very unsavoury mind games with AVB and our squad. He's basically saying 'you think you're as big as us? Look we can sign your players with no trouble.' I think what he's missed is that he is beginning to sound like a parody of himself which brings memories of him supposedly losing the dressing room at madrid. AVB, DL and Baldini are no fools, they'll know how to play this and AVB's next press conference will be very interesting, he could sow the seeds of discontent in their squad with some carefully chosen words. There are 2 or 3 other players we have been linked with (and our original targets), with loads of potential that can play the number 10 and in a front three. At least we know Chelsea can't possibly want another CAM.

As for the ITK. Lamella sounds pretty close. That'd be one of the best signings of the transfer window! :)
I agree with most of what you said, but my view is, if the contract had been signed, say.. pending the medical results, they then leaking whatever they want would have been moot.

Bale stays until we have the players in place, simple. Might take a week, until January or next season. This is how we have to play it. Bale might not like it but he's contracted to us and have to suck it up.

Sky Sports understand that the deal to take Gareth Bale from Tottenham to Real Madrid is edging "ever closer". SSN's man in the Spanish capital, Any Burton, reports:

Sources among the coaching staff at Real say the deal is being done at 'presidential level' and that it has been going on for so long that it would be pretty remarkable were it to fall through now.

Damn. I knew Obama would stick his nose in.

Nice. So Willian's there with a pen in his hand, Kia gets a call and tells him they should consider Chelsea and to put the pen down. Dan Levy jumps off his high chair...

"I am Daniel Levy and by the power of Grayskull if you leave this room you will never see of me ag... wait, wait... come back!"

Bloody marvellous.
LOL...BIG LOL!

If that's true that the interest came at the last minute then you have to question why we were fucking around for 3-4 days to tie this up. We need to close these deals faster.

Sorry mate, missed that due to so much being posted and having to dip in and out. Sound reasoning btw.

You're taking it a bit personally I think. We did the deal as it played out. We did the medical while still negotiating the finer points, it happens all the time. Nothing follows a set specific path, especially a negotiation with so many parties involved.
Fair enough

Jeez Louise.

1. The ITK was right it was nearly 'done', but it was never totally 'done'. Big deal. This is what ITK is: advance info.
2. A week ago Willian wasn't even on the radar & we were OK then. We still are.
3. Kia Joorabichan is not good to deal with, he'd be whoring Willian off within a year or two anyway. Now? Who cares
4. We nicked him from Liverplol, Chelsea nicked him from us. Law of the jungle. It happens.
5. It's 22nd August not 31st August 2012 (Moutinho) or 31st January 2013 (Leandro). Plenty of time to remedy.
6. He was/ is overpriced.
7. We are now in the market for an AMC with a budget of £30m. There are options.
8. We have a great squad & loads of options already. More signings are just icing on a very tasty cake.
9. Happyspur: dizzying highs & terrifying lows? Gotta ride them all, pal!
10. Who gives a fuck? Ten days from now this thread will be like a Chernobyl reunion party, this will be a distant memory & we'll have to wait until January for the ride to start up again. Enjoy the fun whilst it lasts, wish for the best & remember there's a top class football team preparing to entertain you over the coming months.

Now let's get ourselves some players.

If I never read the name Willian on this board ever again I will be a happy man! Would of been a sensational buy but unfortunately the cookie has crumbled in a most unpleasant way. Moving on, we have already bought exceptionally well and have faith that we will be signing the names of some more fantastic players.

Paying more for Willian than Mario Gotze cost Bayern is a joke. Willian has reached his glass ceiling already in terms of potential. Overpriced mercenary. Whatever. Boring.

Eriksen please. The boy is class and will only get better.

Kia very possibly stalled. Mourinho said they'd been interested since Tuesday. He possibly knew of Chelsea's interest before Willian even arrived in London. I wouldn't be too hard on Levy, he certainly wasn't dicking around this time. He was going to spend £30m on a player.
