The worry as usual is that we aren’t seeing many links to the players we want shifted.
Not sure they are top of any clubs list tbh, maybe shift them late on when clubs get desperate but it doesn’t bode well for our incomings if thats the case.

same old story really

If it's the same old story of having to shift the deadwood first, what on earth has Paratici been doing these past few months? Surely, he should have been sounding out clubs on players who are no longer required here?

If Paratici has been doing this, are his attempts being thwarted by the club wanting ridiculous fees for these unwanted players?

The pack needs to be shuffled before we can deal new cards ?

No great surprise as our squad is full and we're only just meeting the 17/4/4 requirements for the CL, from memory. If releasing Lucas is an option, it may be the pragmatic move - his injury doesn't seem to be near recovery and if I understand correctly he's out of contract in the summer unless the club extends his deal, which I can't see them doing.

Yeah we’re not shifting most of that deadwood. No club wants or can afford it at the price or salary set. We’ve been here so often - never changes. Bad recruitment year on year.

That's a massive shame given we have 3 league games this month including NLD where it would be great to have a proper RWB even on the bench as an option to replace Doherty.

It's not exactly that simple though is it. Firstly would any of our cast offs be first choice options for any clubs right now, and if they are they probably need to move players themselves first.

Ni surprise. Would help if we put realistic price tags on the dross to get them out. This has been a problem for a few years now which levy has simply refused to address. GLC, winks, tanguy, davies,Doherty, sessegnon,Emerson, reggie, all still spurs players on good wages despite being nowhere near good enough.

Very true Trix, its not as easy as it seems to shift these players.

Lets just hope that where we do have reasonable offers we take them and don't try and be greedy. Also this is why Conte keeps saying it is so important for a club like ours to "don't make mistakes in the market".

Under FP/AC our signing success rate has been really high, good sensible solid signings, we are just still having to clean out the squad due to previous poor recruitment and also chopping and changing from managers with very different squad and player requirements/preferences.

Some consistency moving forwards is so important for us, another reason why keeping Conte longer term and carrying on building a squad to suit his needs would be beneficial to avoid this type of situation and cycle in future windows.

And we still have to convince our players to leave, for presumably lesser clubs.

Kind of sad that it’s ending that way for him here. Understand the reasons behind it, but it’s just a bit of a shame.

When you say reasons behind it; is it simply to make room or is there more to the story that I've missed?
