Iv'e sorted missed the last 3 days of ITK due to working ( like a ****! ) But my take is that nothing really happens with us until the last few days. The last 2 or 3 weeks maybe...maybe a waste of time. Im starting to think that the 'ITK' are reluctant to say much because...Alot...on here just abuse! i wish they wouldnt! Lets hear whats going on and just accept it doesnt always happen. We all know ( sort of) what Levy is like. Hooper doesnt fill me with excitement.....but im trusting spurs as a club to do the best for us as a club. Lets not forget who we are and where we are. Yes Willian and mourts would be fuckin brilliant! Would actually make us challenge for the title. But it aint going to happen in thie transfer window. I believe we'll get 1.....maybe even both during the summer. Unfortunately....it aint happening now. It maybe slow....but hopefully...touching wood.....we'll get there! I actually dont want us to spunk 20+ on a player. I want us to spot talent! It's too easy to just pick out top players......but we need to run this club properly! We cant run this club as a fuckin dream team!

Also, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Levy is encouraging AVB to look at/utilise our youth players a bit more if at all possible (I think it's why we've seen a bit more of Carroll and Townsend this season), if only as bench warmers instead of the likes of Jenas etc, as they're a hell of a lot cheaper.

We also have one of the best under-21 and development squads in Europe, so we really should probably get on to using them where-ever possible.

I think you're bang on here Bobbins. AVB and his whole coaching regime were brought in to have us achieve the Barca/Ajax/Porto model which is to produce quality Footballers from a young age, coach them in a style that integrates them into our club philosophy, so that we can maintain a consistent high level of play, and realise profit from player sales throughout.

That philosophy has made Barca the powerhouse of World Football that they are. OK Porto and Ajax aren't on the same scale but their league's are far less significant. They make huge profits off their player sales though whilst maintaining regular title challenges in their own leagues.

The goons have had a similar philosophy for years and have profitted from it. They're in a bit of a Doldrums at the mo though, but I think that this occurs at times as you can't always maintain that steady production of talent every single year. They have also mismanaged contracts for their better talents too, IMO, but the principle still remains.

By this consistent production you raise profits, league placing, revenue and exposure. Managed properly it is the surest model, as I see it, to maximise the clubs value.

I see quite a few comparisons with what we are doing to what Utd did in the latter old division 1 to Prem transition. They bought in talent to establish themselves at the top end of the table then, once their youth crop was ready, they took the place by storm. Whether we get such a complete set of quality home grown remains to be seen, but the set up and coaching regime maximises that possibility.

That's how I see the vision going anyway, and that is what I believe ANB was primarily brought in for.

Maybe when scottish players were good......at the moment their shit!

The league is, that doesn't mean he won't be a success though.

I know nothing of the guy really, but I'm always wary of the sweeping statements that because a player plays in a poorer league then he simply isn't good enough.

Quality of a league, whilst it has a bearing, isn't a true indicator of a players ability.

Why spend 8 or so mil on Hooper, I just can't get my head around this mentality of buying multiple players who are no better then the current roster when you could save the money and buy one truly great player or at least one who has bags of potential. If we do buy Hooper, first off that means we will not be in the market for a new striker in the summer and two if he doesn't work out we will have yet another so so player who we will be desperately trying to shift for the next few seasons and failing that will just vanish into the reserves turning up once a month to collect his wages and reminded the management why we can't afford to invest in another forward regardless of his quality. Maybe I am being overly sinical but its been a long old January without much excitement, i might have been able to deal with it if this was the first one but it isn't.

Would not his scoring record suggest that he has bags of potential?

Btw Newcastle's illustrious transfer policies have them at 16th in the table, so maybe that's something to think about before people start suggesting that we hire people who work for them.

So you rate Pardew as good a coach as AVB?

Know what you mean. TBH though, I wouldn't care if he came from the Azerbaijan league 2 if he does the job. In fact the satisfaction level would be off the scale if he did as it would show the club really know their Onions.

Who's shit though? Darren Fletcher's? Steven Fletcher's?

I dont believe either of them players would take us to the next level. Maybe i just have high standards but i believe,in my opinion, i dont think their good enough! I know you'll probably state DF is at man u but i take them as my bench mark. What players we have that are good enough for their first team. Last season we had a plenty. This season im not so convinced!
