Fab on it now too. Likely had confirmation from Paratici that we are negotiating.
He also said we are busy on many deals. Can't link as it's on his podcast. I can link this to show he does say it.

Could well be, and it may well work for them. Like I said though the big plus for me is that we've bid and given a deadline in order to move on. Just opinion but wouldn't be surprised if we don't get him but end up with the likes of De Ketelaere, which I'm more than fine with. What it shows to me is that we are definitely looking to strengthen up top this window. Otherwise putting the deadline in there is pointless especially as they need money and will get more desperate as the window comes to a close.Sounds to me like Porto are trying to flush out buyers for him.
I suspect Paratici has been tipped off that they might have to cash in. Of course the big question is whether we can afford the fee it'd take to get him.
Yes we missed out on Vlahovic but it was clear the club and player were open to an exit in January.
Dybala is Inter bound!I do wonder if this actually is a bit of a smokescreen. We're in negotiations with another player (Dybala for instance) and we're waiting on another party to agree to our terms. So we make it known that we bid for an alternative, in order to put pressure on them.
I'd love to know who the other party is. As someone wrote above, someone from Juve would make sense, given they've found money from somewhere. And would have to be a really big player if we'd be willing to fund Juve in getting Conte's main target.
No chance either of them go there, they won't pay those wages. If Porto are strapped for cash and therefore unable to make signings, would this be an opportune moment for us to look at a cash + player offer?
Could always throw in Dele or Lo Celso to sweeten the deal.
Or Doherty to sour it.
Except it did for NDombele, and now the stadium is generating cash again.Sure we seem to have £50m bids every window that never materialised and the moneys never seen again
What Levy said was "well give you 48 mil", in Portuguese "mil" = thousandPorto thought we said 48 minutes
True, but Porto are currently top of the league with a 6 point gap and have another 6 forward players in their squad outside of Diaz. They'll still make CL this season if they sell him IMO, so paying their bills right now is going to be more important than holding onto their star player.Maybe, but 'heavily linked with' doesn't pay the bills. Porto need to clear their overdue payables by the end of the month or will be banned from UEFA competitions for next season, and UEFA money makes up a significant proportion of their normal annual revenues. Last year they received €74million from their participation in the Champions League, which was almost half of their total annual income.
Our opening bid may well be way below what they're hoping for, but it sounds as if it is at least an actual offer on the table. They can always come back with a counter-offer.
Barcelona have been trying to get rid of Coutinho for nearly 3 years and as he played at Liverpool with Gerard as captain that deal was pretty easy as long as Villa were prepared to play the wages( thats were we would have hummed and haaed ) and Digne was on the transfer list at Everton. Whilst it’s admirable that the Villa board were decisive these were relatively easy transfers.Yeah if anything this is my main concern. I'm fine with us bringing in stop gap players until the summer, but when Villa are bringing in Coutinho, Digne and potentially Bentancur and we're going for Amrabat that's not great.
Villa are having perhaps the best window in the whole of Europe, though, so they must be offering these players silly money to attract them to the midlands.
