The most frustrating thing for me is what we don’t know. I’d absolutely love a peak behind the curtain to understand; approach, strategy, decision making, thought process, politics etc. Not knowing these things to me is more frustrating than the business (or lack there of)

They absolutely must be aware of fan sentiment around transfers?

love him or hate him Levy has balls of steel and is absolutely steadfast in his decision making to never be swayed one way or the other by an (understandably) emotive, reactive and frustrated fan base. I guess there’s huge pros and cons to that approach as there is to the reverse

When Harry Redknapp came in mid-season we backed him big time in the January window, including buying Defoe, Keane and Palacios, (who was quite something at the time).

Not saying that Conte wont be backed this window. But Arry only spent big money in January when he first arrived, when we were in a relegation dog fight (the-two-points-after-eight-games season). Three years later when we were chasing top four, we instead ended up with Saha and Nelson in that January window.

Difficult to deny that it's beginning to feel like more of the same old shit. Again.

Let's hope we're proven wrong. But thus far, this incredibly busy final week we're going to be having, either isn't materialising or has been kept very quiet.

I can see us moving for Eriksen on deadline day to appease the fans tbh. Which wouldn't be a bad thing at all, but if it was just him or him + Amrabat, that would be a hugely disappointing window. Yet again our apparent inability to shift a single player seems to be biting us.

I am sitting in Tambo Airport (Jo'berg) and they have just played at least a minute of clips of Conte and whilst I can't hear what he is saying, I guess it is a montage of him requesting new players

Would u guys sacrifice Stevie if it meant getting Diaz in?
No. One in one out doesn't help us with squad depth. We know youngsters won't break through so for the same of £20m keep him. And he is a good player.

The already rather small dose of optimism Id held on to, against better judgement, is quickly disappearing against a back drop of ‘same old Spurs’ ...

We brought in Paratici and was told he was going to be dealing with transfers and that Daniel Levy was taking a step back. I tell you what - this transfer window is strangely very similar to all the transfer windows I can remember in the last twenty years.

We're going to lose Paratici and Conte at the end of the season aren't we?
Because every winter transfer window is the same - basically nothing is happening if you aren't in completely bad form or has injury crisis.

It's easy we have never paid an asking price, we always have to get a bit of money off always have always will. Sometimes if you want a player you just have to pay the asking price instead of fucking about, we never do that
Between ENIC taking over and up until circa 2012 things actually worked out for us. We usually had a lot of players being branded as "deadweight". This was for a variety of reasons. We had a rapid rise which meant we outgrew certain players, sometimes players got old or just lost form. Sometimes they just weren't the right fit.

However, we always managed to sell flog them off for - at the time - big fees to the likes of Stoke, while also managing to get upgrades. Lots of these deals were made late - with success.

After 2012 things have gotten progressivly worse. I dont know if its because of the market changing or us being in a different place in the food chain or the fact that all clubs scout players different than 10 years ago (more stats and so on). But this scatter gun approach hasn't really worked for quite some time. Not sure its 100 % about not paying the price, but it feels like we're essentially wheelin' and dealin' in a way that is a thing of the past.
