I've got a serious job with lots of responsibility.

And here I am, IPhone burning, opening SC every five minutes to see if he has signed. Sneaking here, sneaking there.

Couldn't give a fuck on the job, just give me Solgado you bastards :)

I had an elaborate plan for the final day of the TW to mask my inevitable zero productivity, but have now had to bring that forward and improvise to make it stretch over two days and counting... How would Scotty put it, "She won't take much more of this. This jurry-rigging won't last for long..."

But no-one pays anything up front. (Except maybe City and PSG and Monaco). It's all Letters of Credit from banks isn't it? As per wishkah's (and my) beautiful explanations?

Yep, not many clubs pay the whole fee upfront. The problem is that more and more clubs appear to want to be paid upfront for transfers thanks the few clubs that do.

I think fenerbache have had theirs taken to a new hearing but I thought besiktas ruling was upheld.

Both have had their bans temporarily lifted after the court order, so they are still in the draws for this year, but the court for arbitration for sport (CAS) is due to make a final decision on 30th August for Besiktas and 28 August for Fenerbace.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23367854

So I don't think the Besiktas chairman can afford to be too confident...

Spurs twitter trolling again.

Seriously on a wind up, I was half way through scrolling on Facebook to see "We are pleased to announce..." before frantically scrolling down to see it's a partnership with some mens wear company :shifty:.

Yep... not many deals involve all the money up front, so Real Madrid still owe us.

Glad LLM is keeping us sane this morning at least.
If they can't pay more upfront for Modric, how would they pay £80m for Bale? That's very cheeky of them.

Don't they still owe us monies for Modric? Perhaps this Coentrao deal has a Modric sized discount attached?

I can't comment on Roger Morgan, but Archibald has apparently stopped posting his info over at SpursOdyssey. This came to light over there when people started asking where Archie is and another poster brought up that Archie had decided to stop sharing info, but the poster didn't go to far into the reasons Archie had told him.

Was this discussed recently no SO? Do you know what thread?

Because virtually no deals are paid up front. Madrid haven't reneged on anything or struggling to pay what they owe.

A basic deal includes paying a percentage upfront then paying a certain amount per month for a period of time.

This means teams with sugar daddies have a much easier negotiating process. They simply agree a fee and pay it.

Teams like ourselves have to agree a fee based on our incomings. Much like we have to when taking out a loan.

Another reason why "just paying the extra 4m" has larger connotations further down the line.

When you buy a house that extra £40k "just agree to" will see you paying that back two or even three-fold over the lifetime of your mortgage.

Also why war chests are bollox.

We are still paying for players and still receiving money from players sold. Anyone we buy will be paid over a couple of years.

I don't think them wanting to comply with FFP will be much to do with the banks, more to do with the fact that the likes of Monaco, PSG, City and Chelsea are starting to distort the market so much that even Real can't compete with them (in terms of transfer fees). So fitting into FFP rules means that they can pressure UEFA into dealing with these clubs and bring the market back down to a level where they can compete.
I agree its not so much about them wanting to comply with FFP as much as the EU coming down on the whole of Spanish football. A few months back the Spanish government went back to the EU looking for another massive bail out payment. The head of the bail out commission very publicly laid into them..and i'm paraphrasing you understand....but basically saying....
how the hell do you have the face to come here wanting xxxxbillions more from us when you are systematically allowing all your football clubs to pay no tax!! The Spanish government both on a national and local level has been behaving as if they are tax exempt businesses many if not all clubs just not paying any taxes and the authorities taking no action whatsoever.
EU position was get your football house in order before you come here with your hand out. Or we'll do it for you.
Things in Spanish football are having to change, which explains the action against certain footballers for their tax evasions ,
much easier to go for individuals than clubs. But effectively serves notice to all that things are changing and the government will now enforce the tax laws. The Spanish government can now of course blame it on the EU of course which takes some of the political backlash off them.
One poster on here, researched the question of this tax payment that supposedly does or does not apply if we do or don't meet the buyout clause with Soldado, came back confirming that such tax laws did exist. The throw away line at the end of his reply though, that said it all, was no one had ever actualy paid that tax and the authorities had never enforced it!!
Makes you wander how many foreign clubs been charged massive sums to cover the tax on their transfers which actualy just went straight into the Spanish clubs pocket.
Real Madrid have for decades been shamelessly funded by the government, allowing them an overwhelming unfair advantage over the rest of the football world and powering the last 20 years of football inflation. Now they have lost that advantage, all of a sudden and without the slightest hint of hypocrisy they want to pressure eufa into taking action against those clubs which are using the tried and tested Real Madrid model for domination of the football world.

If we do get Soldado and hold onto the players we want then surely this is one of our best ever transfer windows. Surely the best since the Prem began.

Most people acknowledged we are in need of a quality striker, a creative midfielder and an attacking winger.

Soldado is a Spanish international who ha averaged over 1 goal in 2 games over the last 5 seasons. Paulinho is a Brazilian international who played a part in outplaying Spain to win the Confederations Cup. Chadli is a 23 year old Belgian international with all the attributes we have been asking for in a winger.

Three quality signings and no losses is exactly what many of us wanted. Really hope we get this deal done.
