Im sure some people on here support our club as some kind of painful chore.

get a grip people.

We are trying to bring in players that will improve the team, and improve our chances of maintaining a title challenge.

who else aside from city can we honestly say are doing this? We are trying to compete from a sound finacially position, but in a January market that is far from sound. It is so over inflated its beyond a joke (Bent £24m?) As it stands, there are niches in the market that we could possibly expose, providing us with a lower finacial risk. That is Loan to buy. This is the avenue we are looking at.

Do we really want to spunk Millions and Millions of OUR hard earned cash (us as fans) on a possible quick fix, but at a highly inflated price? I certainly dont.

If the right players are available and at the right price, we will be involved, but until then we will try to solve issues other ways.

Diarra and forlan with a loan to buy option at this time of the season? great business especially as replacements for Jenas and Keane.

Get a fooking grip people.....:bang:

I don't think any one full back has had Bale in his pocket - more the fact that the opposition collectively applies pressure on him in numbers along with the customary 'boot in the air' tactic so wonderfully illustrated by Bolton.

I'd still take Marcos Senna, definitely. Why are people worried about old players, every other team has them. We don't exactly have a lot of experienced players and a few older players in and around the squad would be good.

Senna would be great to have around the squad, he'd definitely do a job in the side and he'd be great for Sandro too.

Oh and as for strikers being 30 years old isn't really a bad thing. Klinsmann was 30 when he came and 33 when he came back. He did alright. Loads of strikers have done a job in their 30's.

I think some people are still a little scarred by the Hoddle midfield three and striking two of:

Anderton Redknapp
Poyet
Ferdinand Sheringham

I wouldn't mind a 30+ striker like Forlan, he's been, and still is, a top class forward. Senna wouldn't be the end of the world, though the last few times I've seen him he has definitely lost a few gears. Hell, I still think Del Piero looked amazing when I saw him come off the bench the other day (one insane miss aside) and he's as old as Beckham.

I think it's an old player like Neville who has never been much better than okay his entire career that people find uninspiring. It's one thing to bring in someone who, though a little past his best, you know has some kind of exceptional ability underneath the wrinkles and saggy balls, but it's another thing when they've never really stood out above the mediocre.

Diarra and Benzema start.

Did we really expect anything different, Even if Benzema did travel to see our guys Monday it doesn't mean any deal is done yet and that proves it. It could though be his last game for Madrid tonight. Adebayor was never going to play tonight as he only had a medical today.

THIS!

Don't get me wrong, Neville is a good player, but IMHO no better than anything we have. Back up for LB?! Ok maybe, I'll swallow it...

But "IF" we only sign Piennar and Neville this window, then it will have been disappointing! (Appreciate it might not be through a lack of trying)

Ah but can they cover left back? I really think Phil Neville would be coming in to cover left back above all else.

It was a long time ago but didn't Neville play left back for England against Romania? in the euro's ... .I remember him doing a Wayne Bridge tackle when the attacker was running away from goal .... they went onto score the pen and win the game.

Bassong can cover left back .... that's were he 1st played when Newcastle signed him.

Why waste a squad place (Neville) when we've got more pressing concerns. There's enough depth in the squad to cover the positions Neville plays.
He was a regular left back at United. He can definitely do a good job there. Maybe Neville to replace O'Hara in the squad? Covers both fullback slots and defensive midfield. Not a bad idea imo.

It was only the other day people were complaining about Drogba (32) scoring that wonder goal

I dont get the issue with age either. If anything we dont have enough experience.

Ajax issue saturday deadline to Liverpool.

Keane to Hammers

Roger Morgan reckons Forlan is top target.

Lots and lots of fish.

 Well said mate! I'm not sure why everyone is so hung up about the age thing. We have a very young squad overall.

So that's them done, who's left?

hows that done?? playing two players in a competition that madrid dont rate im sure that highly or at least im sure mourinho does not. i think benzema will be ours if they get another striker in though. they might still go for klose or van nistelrooy yet to name just 2

* All excitement over possibly signing Benzema
* Not so excited about signing Forlan instead
* Keane to West Ham
* Suarez apparently on the move, but nobody knows where to
* More links to Phil Neville met with plenty of negativity
* Loads of fish puns
* Benzema and Diarra start for Madrid

Overall excitement has gone down by the hour after last night.
