No striker is utter madness. Kane gets injured, we are absolutely screwed. Vinicius was crucial in playing in cup games last year, who is going to pitch in for us this season?

Not signing a striker is not the issue it was before. This isn't the thread for it but it's clear Nuno's plan is to play weakened/younger teams more in Europe than we've seen previously. Son or Scarlett can lead the line in those, and we maybe need Kane for 7-10 European games all year. He can handle that.

Also, wingers allow Son to 100% become the second striker, which is where he will end up anyway. I'm chilled about it, just hope the winger we do get is a high-impact signing (Adama pls!).

Not signing a back up striker is just negligence.
It's the same old vexing problem we've had for years. Any striker worth a big investment is uninterested due to Kane's presence, and any striker who *doesn't* command a big investment isn't good enough to displace Sonny when Kane is injured. Last season we had Vinicius, who was the best of the backups we've had since Kane made his breakthrough IMO, and he couldn't get on the pitch when Kane was unavailable.

Personally I'd like to see us go for a loan of an experienced journeyman just to have one more option, but solving the Kane backup conundrum is an extremely difficult nut to crack.

Edit: Scarlett I think will play in the Conference League and cup matches. We aren't going to be running Harry into the ground. The real problem is what you do with the first team when Kane is injured and the dynamic above is what's preventing us from solving it.

How can Son play up top for the ECL/Carabao games but also play every minute as LW in the Prem?

The issue isn't that Son isn't good enough, it's that both him and Kane should be getting rested at every possible opportunity - and the only other player in the squad with any experience at all as a CF is a 17 year old.

It's just ridiculous.

Scarlett is going to play in the Conference League and domestic cups, at least for the first half of the season. Revisit in January and hopefully make an opportunistic loan signing if we can shift players such as Doherty or Davies and create a squad space, IMO.

Good opportunity for Dane, then.
