Sturridge should absolutely be a target for us. If there is any young English talent available at reasonable prices we should be interested. Sturridge is still young and has a shed load of talent, people say about him being selfish but he is basically an upgraded Defoe!

Signing players like Verts, Sigurdsson and Sturridge is exactly what we need to do as we are very short of quality.

Can't see Chelsea doing any business with us unless Modric is part of any deal

Can't see Sturrige working out at Liverpool, too similar to Suarez in terms of selfishness

i just couldnt see them selling to us any of their class players, just like i dont think we would sell the likes of modric to another london club.

They will sell to anyone who will meet their valuation of any players they deem surplus to requirements. Hence loaning Benayoun to arsenal. If, as believed, RDM doesn't rate Sturridge, he has high contract demands and a bit of an ego then why not sell him for some decent cash?

At least Daniel Sturridge could be coached out of it, he's still a young player. Nobody bothered with Defoe, so it's a bit too late for him.

I personally think he may end up at Anfield but he would prefer to come to us.

Well, that indicates one of two things: 1) We might not be THAT keen, for instance he might be back-up to someone; or 2) We won't pay what Chelsea are demanding, but Liverpool surely will. Considering the money they've spent on Henderson and Carroll in particular around 15 million must be an absolute steal for them.

I'd be very happy to see him come to the Lane, and I think 10-15 million for a proven PL forward with great potential at just 22 is a very good deal compared to, say, 2-3 times that for someone like Hazard, or even 3-4 times that for someone like Hulk. We need cover on the wings, and we need pace up front - Sturridge gives us the option of both. And from the sound of things - I'd say almost confirmed here by JJ - he also knows our new manager quite well.

Well if we get AVB as coach then it will take him longer than 9 months to coach Sturridge out of being greedy, as he failed in that timescale whilst he was at Chavski.

Maybe its the optimistic Spurs fan in me, but I want to see at least 1-2 players who will be first teamers and make the first team better. Vertonghen fits the bill (I hope). Gylfi/Sturridge are more squad players.
I find it hard to see Gylfi in a team with Van der Vaart and find it hard to see Sturridge playing if we have Ade/Lennon/Bale.

And if we dont have Ade, I want someone better than Sturridge as our 1st choice striker.

Just cant see Sturridge and Defoe in the same team. Both too greedy.

True, but if we bring in Sturridge and sell Defoe (liverpool, where are you) we might even go almost even and end up with a younger, faster and IMO already better player that suits the way we play better. Great piece of business!

(also agree that Sturridge's greediness can be addressed)

I wouldn´t mind Sturridge in a Spurs-shirt. And I don´t see a problem with both Defoe and Sturridge in the squad, albeit probably not on the pitch at the same time...

AVB rotated significantly at Chelsea if my memory serves my right, and we desperately needed proper alternatives to Bale, Lennon, VDV and Ade during last season - Gylfi, Sturridge and one more striker will pretty much sort us out for the front 5 positions..

Sturridge hated being played out wide so can't imagine him being overjoyed at any wide role here

Huntelaar is my #1 wish for the summer but Sturridge would be a good choice

If the rumours are true about AVB and a possible cash injection then we need to brace ourselves for being linked with every player he has ever worked with. It will just be too irresistable for lazy journos.

Considering we need 3 strikers (assuming Defoe goes) then why not both!! Personally I get the impression that Huntelaar has no interest in coming to us so that's a no go. My preferable summer would be Ade, Sturridge and Luuk De Jong. Harry Kane can have the number 4 slot.

Not a bad shout though you would expect Harry to go out on loan to a Championship club again - with a call-back option - to gain more experience. I think Ade, Sturridge, someone else (Huntelaar, De Jong), Bale, VDV, Lennon, Gylfi and potentially also Piennar with Townsend as back-up is sufficient for the front 4 positions.
