He is right, we do have a quality squad. It was good enough to beat Chelsea and Arsenal, what makes you think we need new players just because of that Wigan result?

This year we will need a better squad. We need to beat those teams again, plus more of the shit teams (unlike today) and the champoins legue. It has nothing todo with today.

Because its are inability to kill teams that are down in the dumps that is our biggest downfall. All the good teams do it. Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal (to an extent). The points we dropped at home last season v Hull, Stoke and the like.

We beat big teams like that because of the adrenalin and to some extent our quality. When playing poor we should be keeping our defence tight and maybe nicking a win 1-0.

Everyone was poor as if they had all been out on the piss on Wednesday night.

Please let's have some ITK that Fabiano is done after that shower of shit today. Oh yeah, and get Pletikosa in goals to, Cudicini only had one shot to save today, and even after the slight deflection, it was a pretty woeful attempt.

The squad definitely needs improving, but im worried that todays result may have a negative effect on us signing anyone as Harry would insist his squad is good enough just to prove people wrong

Yeah i'm sure potential signings will turn us down after we lost a game we shouldn't have

What today showed was how important it is to have a matchwinner up front. Hopefully Fabiano can be that man.

I think todays game just hilighted the problem...we had a tired looking team today and i think we were also suffering from a bit of a hangover from wednesday night.
Ok we lost to wigan but its not a disaster...i think any prospective transfer would be turned on champions league football rather then being turned off by a lack lustre peformance against a struggling wigan side fighting for their lives already.

In Harry i trust

Although I agree a match winner up front would be awesome I dont think that was the reason for our loss today.

Today what we really lacked was a match winning central midfielder. Someone like Fabregas who creates down the middle. With Huddlestone and Palacios we're too negative down the middle. We just keep going wide and relying on Ekotto, Bale, Kaboul, Lennon to hit the crosses in. It was so frustrating. I was screaming for one of Huddlestone or Palacios to drive forward with the ball and pick out a through ball.

There was plenty of movement from Defoe and Pav but we still insist on going long or hitting crosses in from the wide areas. Modric was missed today. We improved when Kranjcar came on but still we never really attempted to play through them. Our only strategy seemed to be to go wide. I dont think a match winning striker would change this.. A forward thinking center mid would have made all the difference.

Sums up why we need a big squad and are looking to bring in players like Parker even if they do not improve the "first team".

We need good players to step in when others clearly aren't at the races. Rotation is vital in the Champions League.

That was the worst 40 quid I've ever spent today.if this is what the champions league does to the squad then I'd rather not b in it.

Unless some signings are made then we are screwed big time. This isn't a knee jerk reaction it's the truth. We will never be a top three team with our current side I can assure u of that. 1-0 to Wigan at home? My god.

I agree with u mate. Palacios and huddlestone did not know what to do today. No runs through the middle just long balls. Our wingers were marked out the game to b honest. I hate to say it but we need bentley back. Lennon looks like s championship player at most at the moment.

Not one of the players that took part today had no part in last season's superlative performances. In other words, the players that took part today are capable of supreme performances.

We were watching the one step back of three forwards today.

Re the ITK, talksport seem to think it was Parker's last game. A couple of weeks ago, i'd have been very happy with Parker, but since the 'Diarra's almost done' malarky, i'd feel a bit underwhelmed, mainly because i'm a massive massive Diarra fan.
