Harry saw him in the mould of VDV

lets move onto the summer and say we signed Carroll (no.1 target)

Suarez would surely be second fiddle to the guy who has made most impact in the premier league this year

At £12m not so bad a risk, but the pressure to play him at £23m? probably too much in truth

:clap:very true £8m for Vdv or £23m for LS for the same position I know what deal i would rather have and who will have the better impact at the end of the season.

I'm confident that the club know what we need, a quality number 9. We will get one  coys

ok i see where you are coming from now.

I would have to say that scenario is IMO a monumental risk, Carrol is hardly proven..whats to say he 1. doen't play much more this season, re injury and therefore could hardly be deemed proven. 2. he does play and loses form, or struggles for goals etc.

I don't see Suarez in the same light ( i have pointed out in the past, my knowledge on him is only W/C)

As always you miss the point of a post

Once we've paid money for our tickets or shirts, it's no longer our money, it's theirs. This isn't Football Manager adie.

no mate they have a duty to progress this club & they are using OUR money....

if we didnt spend it the club would be relegated etc, etc...

they have a duty to progress this club is what i am saying & they are doing it with OUR money

Things will be going on behind the scenes, things that none of us will know about. 'Arry and DL obviously know how badly we need a new striker, they aren't just sitting by thinking "Aaah, it will be okay, Crouchy will be firing them in soon!"

HR wants to build a squad and DL wants to earn cash, it's in everyones best interests that we sign a striker.

I can't give too much away, but please dont listen to everything you read in the press. We are pushing on with two deals, I posted it into the ITK section, just waiting for it to be approved.

Interesting. Thanks if true. Any bets on this being POTL? I joke but I called it first if so..

If you bought something off me, who's money would it be? Yours or mine?

Levy is moving the club forward, but that doesn't mean throwing stupid money at players.

There's no point just throwing all of our money at a player, and end up spending too much

sometimes there are exceptions to every rule, IMO this is the case when we should. I have explained why before, but sorry i cant search the post to link you to it.

With lanky Champonship targetmen my mind is always cast back to Gregorz Rasiak who took an absolute age to socre in a Spurs shirt and ultimately became an iconic joke of a striker. The pressure and stresses were too great and he got shipped out the back door a broken man. Now Carroll, however...

Probably got something to do with Suarez as well, being announced today I would expect. He's up there at any rate.

Did you travel up to give him your balls?

My flatmate (who is a Geordie) is adament that even if we had a bid accepted for Carroll that he would turn us down. The guy is very comfortable with life up there and is in his home town surrounded by his family and friends (who play a big part in his life apparently).

How much will Newcastle accept? £30m?

We're starting to look at close to the British transfer record for unproven players. The only players worth those sorts of fees from us are players like Torres, Berba, Drogba, Rooney, etc. Madness.

It wouldn't surprise me at all either. He can be the king of Newcastle up there. His boyhood club too.

Yes and no, I guess the end result is the most important thing, we just can't afford to stay as we are though.

With Harry saying Levy is the one who wants to spend, the money must be available and won't put us at risk.

TBH It doesn't bother me if a player we buy isn't eligible for the CL, the league is more important.

I know I would have taken group stages and 4th at the start of the season, anything more a bonus

Yes agree with you, especially that Harry has said that Levy wanted to spend big. But it may well be (?) that the 'football man' doesn't think that player x suits his system or is worth the outlay? It may be that players don't want to come to us? It's not simply a case of saying you're joining (not that you've suggested that - but others have!)

As for the CL part I was reffering to Adies ITK that 'suggested' that it was an incentive for th player - cue that he meant to say next season?!

Just to highlight in the summer i wanted any of RVN / huntelaar or fab, as i felt any of those 3 would have been perfect for Spurs in cementing our place in the top4 / challenging for title.

this window, my 1st choice was and still is Fab, for the same reasons above, and tbh, the one i know most about compared to the others mentioned as possibles

30 million pounds is just shy of 35 million euors, the same amount Real Madrid paid for Benzema. Pretty sure others will be able to name some great stikers who have gone for less than that. Crazy eh?
