Why would we sound out a lawyer about Suarez's possible WP? He is a regular international for Uruguay and would have no problems whatsoever getting a work permit.

I dont know. Check the thread on COYS. some poster called ROBinBBK or something. said he had seen the docs etc.

"I wouldn't want the chairman to start paying £130-140,000 a week for a player," Redknapp said.
"It would be difficult when you've got players here getting what they get who are probably better than the ones you've got to pay that money for.
"So, suddenly, the whole thing would get out of hand, wouldn't it?"
Whilst I understand it, I don't agree with this attitude, especially since it's Levy's words and not Harry's.

Ok, so there might be salary unrest at a club. But. notwithstanding, you still have the other clubs paying big money. So Spurs players can all hold hands and sing kum-by-ya at their god given equality.

That is until one of them thinks "fuck this, I can earn double elsewhere!".....

Torres isn't leaving Liverpool for a bigger pay packet. He's leaving because they don't have a prayer of challenging for the big prizes.

I just keep asking myself what would be so tempting about a move to Chelsea? They're wobbling, their manager will probably not be there beyond the summer, their squad is full of old farts...

I think Abramovich has realised he needs to start spending again, the bid for Aguero and Godin, the bid for Luiz and now the bid for Torres, seems like he's decided to get his cheque book out again which only makes things harder for us.

Trouble for us is that no matter how much we bid for a player we're constricted by our wage budget and unfortunatley there's not a lot we can do about that other than put the club in financial jepoardy. Until we start pay wages of around £100k a week we can never truely compete, we desperatley need a bigger ground or a rich sugar daddy, I'd prefer the former and in Tottenham

Rather than a poor version of Crouch, I'd say a young English Luca Toni. THE type of striker we desperately need for the future.

Maybe its just me but I don't understand the Carroll thing. He has not impressed me at all he is a poor version of crouch. Yes he scored 11 goals this year but that is hardly mind blowing, crouch has scored loads at the highest level for England . I would not pay more than 5 million for him. Having said all that harry seems to see something in him. What am i missing? What makes him special?

Crouch has played in every league game since signing for us, whether it be as a starter or a sub, he's scored 9 goals. It's not good enough. He may score the odd goal in the international game, or in europe, but the league is your bread and butter. Carroll is worth £15-£18m I reckon really.

We fucked up the Suarez deal by stalling.

Harry is crap at identifying targets and dilly dallys too much. Levy is pissed off as a result.

A number of delusional people thing we are going to sign Torres.

Thanks, looks like we are still in the same frame of mind as last night then.

ITK does seem to be on the wane which suggests that we haven't managed to secure our targets but in fairness there is very little value out there, especially when you get a 'source' from Newcastle spouting our offer for Carroll of £23million was deemed as 'paltry'.

How much have you actually watched AC?

a lot of 3MP's england goals have been against lowly ranking international teams who if put in the PL would be relegation quality.

Our of all the strikers we have come up against this season, AC looked dangerous nearly every time the ball was played into him. I bet our centre halves would agree that they had one of their most uncomfortable afternoons against AC - and thats with him playing in a not particularly good Newcastle team.

I heard a rumour from someone - although it could be a wind up, but Levy has asked Liverpool to be kept informed of situation with Chelsea.

Suarez was never coming here. Was always going to be Liverpool. I don't believe we really went for it.

Its called tongue in cheek....your more naïve for asking the bloody question!

It didn't seem tongue in cheek considering you'd spent about 3 posts trying to work out how we could afford his wages by selling other players...

Ideally yeah but not the way things are at the moment, if Torres is gonna go for £40m plus you can't blame Newcastle holding out for about £25m

Agree with this. All the paper talk was about Liverpool and we hardly got a mention? Why have no other teams gone for him either? Have they all got useless mangers (!!!:bang:) too?!

Yeah, I agree, and plus a player is really worth whateveer a club is willing to pay. Anything over £18m for Carroll makes me feel incredibly uneasy.

Well, there is a very small bracket of clubs who (a) could afford him, (b) are in desperate need of a prolific striker, and (c) he would sign for.

Very small indeed.
