I think we had some ITK yesterday saying that we were pushing for deals this week and that if we didn't receive sufficient encouragement we'd be moving on (makes sense as Everton wouldn't sell McCarthy to us last minute with no replacement). Coupled with ITK about Kramer being the no.1 target for DM and JJ's upbeat post/ wink about progress with the Germans... we might just have a chance at getting him.

Werner and Berahino both can play LW. Do we need both or is one nailed on for striker role? assuming Chadli plays a lot

From the little I saw of Werner in the u21s he came in from the right or the left and sometimes down the middle.
I Think Berahino is similar in that respect too.

Think it'd be they both could do what we needed up top. Could see Werner (LW), Berahino (CF), Pritchard (CAM) and Townsend forming our "backup" attack. Obviously you'd expect Berahino and Chadli to really push each other for that starting LWF role, too.

Deals are going to be hard to complete as the players we are targeting are all wanted by their clubs. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan.

Still think Berahino, McCarthy and Werner will be the three.

Cracking window if we achieve that.
Would take that in a heartbeat... Would be a £45-50 million + outlay though on transfer fees alone... That's the part that makes me less confident.

In terms of the players, least confident on us getting McCarthy and it would be so 'us' to be strung along until deadline day and fall short of capturing him... Thus going into the season with no new midfielder or an inadequate panic buy.

I wouldn't be confident had we not made the progress we have with outgoings. Not just in fees but we're freeing up massive money on wages.

Yes we've signed a few but I doubt any of them are on big wages, bar maybe TA.

Both now are really LWFs, but both in time should become CFs.

I think those 2 will replace all 3 of Ade, Soldado and Lennon, and we'll just have versatility with them two + Kane and Chadli as a quartet competing for the LWF and CF spots.

As long as the two incoming players mentioned are a quality DM and a forward we are good to go...

The absolute minimum we should be starting the season with. If we can get two in before Saturday with a week to train with the squad before United, I'll be incredibly happy.

I'm catching up and have only got to page 3 and I can't believe that, even with positive itk about ins and outs, there are still so many people complaining!
It sometimes seems as though the club can do no right, or that some posters' expect perfection in an imperfect world.

This is possibly the best window I can remember - well, some have been more fun but nowhere near so productive - and with our business so far coupled to our exciting youth programme, there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful.
We've nearly got rid of all the players that we wanted shot of, and yet some are moaning that it's left us short!?!
Ok, in this snapshot of time we are short but we've been getting some pretty confident news to expect imminent incomings, so let's at least see out the next few days before finding reasons to fucking grumble!

Best window you can remember? Yet we have bought one first team starter?!! It may be the best when the window shuts, but you don't become a better team from your sells

Productivity wise, yes, I'd say it's the best...so far.
And you arguably do become a better team for your sales, especially in our situation where we seemed to have a few players not helping morale and team spirit.
It's just a different perspective. The recent itk somehow feels different at the moment, more believable for some reason and I'm finding that positive too.

And many of the previous windows have been pretty shit, throughout the window, let alone when it closed.
A lot of it comes down to personal onion though. (y)

Could you elaborate?

Unless one of the elements of the team dynamic you are looking for is a smaller squad, better cohesion and without certain disruptive elements...

Boom! Another one bites the dust. Anyone else care to drag up Old Trafford in two weeks? Don't worry, the banstick has 'Old Trafford' engraved on its side, really deep so it feels ribbed. For your pleasure. Perhaps your sphincters will understand what your brains cannot.
