I don't understand this depth talk. We have a 25 man squad. That's as deep as it gets. Did we use all of our midfielders this year? Yes. We can't add depth to that? No.

We can change it. Enhance it maybe. But we can't add depth.

I thought your Appearance number seemed a little on the low side so I check Soccernet for Appearances (this includes sub appearances.)

To me that suggests we over used our core midfielders and didn't rest them when we had the chance to. That being said we can't add depth to a 25 man squad all we can do is look to improve upon what we have and move on any players that are replaced by new players.

Give the man a chance. I posted this in the Friedel thread in Spurs Chat but feel it needs to go here as well due to the direction this conversation is taking.

I think that is an exceptional arrangement of saves - really impressed me actually. Some of the saves he made I think he 'had no right to save'. Reflexes look incredibly sharp still. As a free transfer, looks a very shrewd move to me.

looking at Cudicinis career, he seems perfectly happy wasting away on the bench for seasons at a time

manure had VDS, Foster and Kuscheck for a season or two and the gooners have 3 right now, the chavs also had Cech, Hilario and Cudi for a season or 2

You have to have 3 keepers ready to play. If we had Gomes + Carlo we're only an injury away from having Alnwick on the bench!!

He's an old Wycombe Wanderers trainee, and he apparently went to school with his missus, so I'd imagine his family's still in that area. Not too far from Birmingham, but just too far from Liverpool.

With the reaction on here to signing Friedel ON A FREE it's a good job we didnt sign arguably the most ridiculed keeper in the prem on account of his blunders..... oh wait... thats the guy we already have...

Gomes is a great shot stopper, but he is mentally weak. The man just crumbles. Im sure lots of you guys are blind to his blunders and defend him purely because he plays for us! If gomes played for le arse, we'd ridicule him ourselves! who remembers the feigning of injuries, just because he made a mistake?? I do! I even remember us playing a young team in europe against Shakhtar i believe... and guess who let us down? It wasnt the youngsters... Who killed the tie against madrid?? Oh wait....

40 years old or not, i think friedel (on a free) will do just as good (if not better) job than gomes did and we'll end up freeing up funds if we sell gomes to fund the most important signing... NEW STRIKER!

Given that Redknapp has spoken of the addition of 'a couple' of players of real quality, the signing of Friedel and links to Parker and Roger Johnson it makes you wonder what we might end up with come September.

At this rate we might bring Greavsie back up front!
