I still can't quite believe the Moutinho stuff. Porto have turned down a 40m move for Hulk, so why would they lower their price for Moutinho? At the same time I can't see us paying 30m for him at all.

Hope I'm wrong though.

I think people are getting ahead of themselves. I can see 1 player coming in, anything more will be a huge bonus.

agree and reckon it will be lloris.

historically that would make this window very good (verthongen, siggy, dembele, + one). the problem however is that it won't make us better, i'd say we're actually a weaker sider compared to last year considering the importance of modric.

with teams around us strengthening top 4 looks tough imo.

i wish we could be one step ahead of ourselves and just sign what we know we need NOW (another striker, creative midfielder) instead of waiting another year, missing out on CL in the process....but that's how we operate and we're all used to it (financially sustainable i guess) so i'm not holding my breath

Maybe they have to sell one. A decent deal for Moutinho, even if not the full asking asking price may enable them to keep Hulk and others. They know Moutinho wants to go so he would be the obvious choice.

My guess with that is that they are only willing to let one or the other go as they are the two faces of the side now. If they lost both it would be a disaster for them. So if they're open to selling Moutinho they are going to price Hulk right out of the market. Moutinho seems more intent on leaving and Hulk is also the flashier iconic figure for them so it makes more sense that they would let Moutinho be the one to leave.

Heard some journo on the other week saying that they will sell Hulk or Moutinho but unlikely they'll sell both, maybe Moutinho is the one making the bigger noises to leave and maybe they prefer to hang on to Hulk. Lets face it Hulks buyout clause is totally unrealistic, im beside myself with excitement at the prospect of us getting Moutinho now.

Also Hulks buyout clause is around 80m euros, Mouts' is 30m euros not £s.

There is no bleating this summer about Remy from The Goat, unless it was yesterday's "plan D" cryptic, but I thought JJ hinted it was a player with a "D" name.

Unless we are awaiting a new Goat post...
The Goat said more than Plan D yesterday.

Yeah Plan D has been widely misinterpreted. Remy is in there, along with A.N Other ;)

Well theres reports today that Levy has flown out to go and get Remy. Wouldnt be my first choice and not sure how he would fit into AVBs system but a great player nonetheless.

They need to sell one of them and I feel they believe they have talked round Hulk in to staying. With Moutinho it was a case of "I'll play on, but I really want to work with AVB and join Spurs."

Fine. Keep Hulk, sell Moutinho.

Hulk is not pushing for a move, but Moutinho is. Unfortunately that's what he's like, he's done it before @ Sporting

He says it's not ITK, but feel like there's some in this from david on FTL re: Remy...

Not itk on this but seems to me to be a good state of affairs where Remy wants to come, Marsseille are desperate to sell (and would take sig less than the 15m quoted) yet for us he is a 10.30 option if Big option does not come off. Levy is finally getting the Moggi thing down where he sounds out clubs/players, multiple options in all positions and plays one of against the other. That and poor finances in France meaning that they are all desperate to sell seem to be the 'perfect storm' at the end of window.

I think Remy is a better call than Willian, he can lead the line and also cover the wings, 2 birds 1 stone.

I think it's a close call between the two. Personally I'd be happy with either, both are potentially very good premier league standard players.
