I know how people feel. I am no different. But! There is still time for that ‘special signing’. Let me run and hide. Seriously though. One thing I know is Poch is being backed 100%. I know we will pay. Oh on right players. Rest is anyone’s guest.
The thing that concerns me is that I don't think we're even looking at the right position to make a 'special' signing in: I think we'd be best off putting our big guns into making a special signing in central midfield, and from the information that you've kindly shared with us this summer the club clearly think the area where we could potentially look to spend big is the winger/forward position. That worries me by itself, let alone the sadly familiar feeling that we might now have to settle for non-first choice options in the positions we're looking to strengthen.

Appreciate your info, Hercules, and I'm not disregarding your opinion that we should still be hopeful, but it does seem like the general vibe is that the club might be being frustrated in making progress on signings so far this summer, so I hope things pick up before too long.

So disappointing that its gone from a few big players to now potentially one special signing. Poch backed or not we seem to be targeting meh players.

Ill wait till the end of the window but this looks like another missed opportunity to really go up a level

It’s one thing being willing to ‘pay’ but if the club won’t sell then we’re buggered. Whether we like it or not, if a club will only sell for an inflated fee then we’ll have to stump up the cash if we want the team to progress. It’s better to overpay and get 2 quality additions than it is to get 4 average squad players.

It's been a pretty bleak summer for us so far. All that early promise, contract extensions, positive ITK, etc. has disappeared.

The World Cup has undoubtedly been a hinderance. The only purpose it has served thus far is to put our best players in the shop window.

So frustrating to see other teams make key early signings (Liverpool - Fabinho, United - Fred, Arsenal - Leno) whilst we're playing catch up.

We believe you Herc but the whole "speical signing" stuff is starting to annoy us.

I'm gonna judge the window when it closes, but....

I don't have the same positivity I did have at the start of the window .

Don't bother getting disheartened. Pointless. It's what we always do. If somebody "special" is on the cards great, but it's not like we really expect it, is it?

There is saying Poch will be backed and then there is actually backing him. It doesn’t feel like he will be backed.

We’ll be linked with big players for a bit of noise and ultimately end up signing unknowns or players way down the list of targets - players that won’t make the he difference!

If levy doesn’t get it right this season it could be poch’s last season with us.

Kind of disappointing to hear we're competing for the same level of signings as everyone else bar the Manc clubs and then competing with Fulham, Newcastle and West Ham for some Ligue 1 guy no one's heard of. I'm the first to tell people to wait until the window's closed to have a moan but even I'm losing hope.

I have my own opinions on a lot of how we go about our business. But that is for another day.

Is it a bit like how my girlfriend has gone about our relationship? 2 weeks ago we were buying a house but now she’s devoted her life to God and we have to live separately. Spurs transfer business - tips the model upside down lol

Grealish, Gomes, and Plea is the dream window of a midtable PL team hoping to make Europa League one day. I can muster some hope for Grealish but... :sorry: oof that is not a drop it is a plummet in quality level from what we had been told to expect.

Thanks Herc appreciated even if disappointing.

Signings like plea are just meh cos we know he ain’t gonna get any game time ahead of Kane, we need players to go into the first team not squad fillers. Just seems like all recent transfer windows and as for special signings, I think we all know it’s pie in the sky!

This summer at a minimum I think we will see two first teamers leave in Toby and Mousa D but by the sounds of it we won't be signing replacements of their calibre unless Herc is "positive" about how we go about our business but I don't think he is
