I was going to post that but after my 'sheepish' pun in the Ba thread I didn't want to get a bad reputation around here ha. A player's pun potential is more important than their football ability imo

A bad pun goes a long way round these parts!

My bro is a Cheltenham season ticket holder, he was there for a spell this season, obviously it's only league 2 but they all spoke very very highly of him.

Personally I am surprised that people are so hooked Brendan Rogers, fine he took over a team and got them promoted then had a fair season in the Prem whilst at the same time any mention of Alan Curbishley is met with hoots of derision, personally I'll accept Rogers is a good manager when he keeps a team like Charlton in the Prem comfortably.
as I've posted before he is the flavour of the month but I remain unconvinced as I was when he was linked with us. Can't help thinking if he's the man for Liverpool then maybe Brian McDermott may be the man for us.

Worcester...I, personally, have made a lengthy post in the Harry Redknapp thread (page 8 or 9, I think), detailing exactly why I rate Rodgers.
Can't speak for anyone else.
But I am kinda sick of this constant claim that anyone who rates him is jumping on a bandwagon and all they know about him, because it is there is to know, and all there is to judge him on, is that he took Swansea into the EPL.

Never been that impressed anytime I've watched de Jong. Decent shot on him and decent in the air but he Looks very one paced to me even in the Dutch league.

I wish people would engage their brains instead of believeing every bit of media spin that comes out.

VDV has never indicated throughout the season that he would consider his future. Plus, why the fuck would Levy sell one of, if not our best player??

Jeez!!

Yeah I think she has juggled her German TV career when Rafa was playing in Spain so I don't think its a big deal really. It's probably more along the lines of Rafa is 29, he keeps getting subbed, and Schalke are gonna be straight into the CL Group Stages this season - he ain't getting no younger

Maybe wrong thread but anyone concerned about the VDV link to Schalke? In my opinion he is world class and will peak next 2-3 years, intelligent enough to be made club captain

No im not in the slightest, Rafa has said he loves Spurs end of, im more worried about Caulker now if Rodgers gets red all over him. Stater at Pool or rotate at Spurs...

Lol I just gave out 3 winners, must be one of those days

Modric does deserve to play in the CL, but so do Spurs. But at the end of the day...you don't always get what you deserve. I firmly feel Luka should lump it as he signed a 6 year deal, and I am sure Levy's agreement with him was if a big club came in he'd let him go - by that he meant Barcelona or Madrid...not the bloody west london chav brigade

Agree so should we, but he played like soldier (untill he n many others got tired), even at the start of the season his game was just like last season, he was playmaker we all know and love(d). If we sell then only abroad, he will improve and enhance any of our PL competitors, he cannot be allowed that!

I don't think anyone is doubting that VDV would love to stay and loves us But the only issue I can see is the fact Mrs VDV might want to go back home after everything that has happened in the last 4 years with her treatment, having been ill it did make me want to reconnect with family that I hardly saw who were out of range to visit

I'd take him and Redmond in one fell swoop

Maybe but Butland has never played for Birningham - only 12 matches in League 2 for Cheltenham. Next season League 1 loan, and following season Championship loan ? Potential yes....but could still either go downhill or become a goodgoalkeeper. asi of now over hyped based on his actual experience. Maybe worth a punt but its just that

Remond again, much hyped. Townsend who is a year older kept him on the bench when at loan at Birmingham so again maybe worth a punt but by no means a sure thing. BTW Redmond has just 24 appearances for Birmingham, Townsend has more Championship games plus went on loan in League 1 so has close to 100 professional games overall.

Think its a case of for many fans of bing taken in by the media who love hyping a youngster after just a handful of games

SP the last thing I'd ever accuse you of is bandwagon jumping, you've been a lone voice arguing your corner too often for that, and I respect your opinion of Rodgers, I chose my words carefully and am not saying that Rodgers is not a fine manager merely that I remain to be convinced however I am ready to be convinced, I just want more time.
My main point was really the other way round, why do so many people feel a good season in the prem qualifies him as a good manager but six good years in the prem leaving the club in the best condition ever doesn't seem to qualify Curbishley as a good manager.
