I think we can safely say that they don't want to lose him for nothing.
And I think it is as realistic to assume that when/if Barkley finally gets his move this summer, it will be for an overall price tag that in reality isn't that much of a bargain. That's my real point. People keep pointing to his assumed price tag as a great argument for signing him, but we don't actually have anything to suggest we KNOW that there will be such a bargain.

I agree. Times have changed from the early days of the Bosman ruling where clubs would take a small figure to avoid losing players for nothing.

We actually don't know that. We can assume that to be the case, but we actually don't know at this point.

The board has been working to try to get Barkley re-signed and the England international was told last week by Koeman that he had until the end of this season to make a decision on his future. “Either he accepts the contract or we sell the player,” Koeman said

That seems pretty definitive that unless he signs a deal soon they will be moving him on.

Fine, go ahead and view the situation your way. We'll get back to this topic after his move, whenever that may be.

Bit disappointed with the news on Sessegnon. With the press coverage and cryptic ITK, I was hoping this one was virtually done. Not surprised there is a lot of competition, though. Spurs would be an ideal place for a homegrown young player, especially a full back. All he needs to do is look at the careers of Rose, Walker, Trippier and even Davies. Conversely, if UTD are interested, look at how Mourinho treats Luke Shaw!

If we are not going to sign big names this summer, we should be making a big effort to get players in this category. A bit like Dortmund.

Not necessarily directly a given that we'll get Barkley on a cheap simply because he is in his last year of contract, IMO.
Also I always suspect you have to pay good wages in that situation. The player and rep know the real worth and want a cut.

My sentiments exactly.

Fee: Way above a fair compensation to the club under the circumstances
+ cheeky deal for the agent
+ fat sign-on bonus for the player
+ really high salary demands
= Spurs out priced

All in my own onions, of course.

Doesn't sound great re. Sessegnon. Don't think we will sign him now

I dont see it that way - the Goat has basically just told us what we already knew - we are in for him but many others will be too. We knew this. I still feel confident.

All comes down to how sane Sessegnon's advisors are..If his parents or agent put money before his development, he will end up in City or Chelsea. United may have a LB spot available, but is it the right place for him to grow ?

If they are sane, they would chose Spurs before anyone. With his ability, as long he is willing to work hard, success is guarenteed for him under Poch.

kramer on ftl - its a bit friend of a friend told me but hes got 14 000 posts and his info is not being ridiculed on ftl, like itk always is on that forum:
Spurs info - nothing new really but

So one of my clients knows some chaps who are fairly close to Levy, one of them them meets Levy on a seemingly fairly regular basis, anyway my clients likes to pass on info to me as he knows I'm basically very nosey...

Nothing we either already didn't know or can guess but I thought the odd Spurs post would provide a bit of light relief.

Levy currently values us at £1.5b and expects this to reach £2b on the completion of the stadium, purchasers already lined up, if this is more than one interested party i don't know. Levy loves his job and is in no rush

Walker, halfway through the season he became a problem, club not overly bothered about him going, it will be big bucks as we all know. He will be the only first teamer sold this summer. Wimmer also going as he wants to play, the club want him to stay but understand he needs games.

Incoming players, they want to keep Janssen and add another striker to play with/back up for Kane, looking for an "explosive player" presumably meaning pace with Wembley in mind next season. A right back to replace Walker, not clear if it is a first teamer or if Trippier is being given a go.

Lastly everyone at the club knows we propped a bollock with Sissoko and we will get rid, the trouble is finding a team to take him
