The ITK is surprising. I can see us getting Lo Celso, but I would be properly gobsmacked if we managed to get Ndombele.

I just don’t see it - too good, too sought after, too much competition

Would love to be wrong
It does seem we’re the only one really linked and pushing for him seriously

Well, that's a bit different... Can't really recall a time since the Summer of Bale, that ITKs have been so confident in our ability to spend big on significant talent. Also, I really do love the fact that we have earned the right to fish in these waters, without relying on a rich benefactor. We've built, and built, and built an amazing foundation that has finally put Spurs in a position to finally play in the big leagues. And without ever having to flirt with bending or breaking FFP rules. :)

We're going to blow everyone else out of the water for a change.

Not sure about that. City, Utd, PSG all credited with serious interest.

Us most, yes, but that can change if we wait

All seem to have preferred alternatives, especially City and PSG. French media said our contract offer was bigger than Juve's. We have never been more attractive and now we're seemingly backing that with money. I'm starting to believe.

Let's wait and see what happens before we all start sucking each other off. Been here before and until they are signed anything can and often does happen.

Is this the reason for no signings in recent times? I didn’t know we had to suck each other off if we signed people!

I’m not sure. We had several reports we would spend big at the start of last window and look what happened. I seem to remember numbers in the hundreds of millions being mentioned.

As the above shows, things can change quickly from what people hear and pass on. Let’s wait, see and hope it’s different this year.

Agree with most that the most obvious duo is Lo Celso and Ndombele. Sessegnon also at the moment seems more a case of when than if, so that's likely to be £170m for just those 3. When you then consider that we absolutely have to sign a top quality right back, and a wide/central forward option too, we'd be looking at easily £225m plus.

Surely that'd mean Eriksen is off? I can't see us having such a huge net spend as that, no matter how positive the ITKs are.

On the flip side, what if we did have £150m to spend (inc sales) and things just didn't work out because of stadium delays, the world cup and the early transfer window killing us? Poch then deciding to stick rather than twist.

We know for a fact we tried hard for a £50m+ player in De Jong but he decided to give Ajax another year.

Now fast forward a year and we've just received a CL windfall of circa £100m to add to that...

Seems far too much smoke around Ndombele and especially Lo Celso to me, whereas I don't think there was anything this time last year.

That I think is one of the things that Poch was referring too when he said we need to change the mentality of the club. We are NOT Spurs of 5 years ago.. we are habitual top for finishers and Champions League finalists...the 2nd best Club in Europe, have the best Stadium in Europe probs the world ;P. We are a big Club on the rise and its now we ALL need to change our mentality. Players will also look as us differently now.

It's this simple for me:

1) We're in a position to really push on

2) levy is no fool, Poch has proved himself as an exceptional manager, the real deal. He's earned the right to trust his judgement with serious backing.

I really want to be optimistic, but we could have copied and pasted this from the start of last summers transfer window.

The proof is in the pudding as they say. Let’s wait and see what transpires over the next month or so.

Not quite. We're now in the new Stadium and this time last season we hadn't just played the biggest Club game in football.

When have we ever heard JJ this positive either.

I think we're in an even healthier position, in every respect, than we were this time last season.

Starting to get excited now after the disappointment of the weekend. Lord knows we all would benefit from some positive news and this ITK is looking very positive indeed. Massive summer ahead I hope!

Yeah we are certainly in a healthier position than last year.

Another thing I've noted is that we are being continuously linked to the same players, whereas last year it seemed to change much more frequently. ITKs, media links, etc. All quoting the same players.
