as much as i think adebayor has the exact attributes we need, if he was guaranteed to score 20+ goals next season wouldn't city keep him? He has everything we need and i hope it goes thru. But he's no Drogba. Gallas Diarra and Adebayor. Did they win a single trophy at Arsenal between them? Good players, won't make us title challengess.

No, but Adabayor, Diarra, Gallas, VDV, Modric, Bale, Lennon, Sandro, King, Dawson, BAE, Corluka, Walker, Gomes, Friedal et al will!

I expect you believed Alan Hansen when he said Utd would never win the title with kids.

Dancing in the rain was a rap song by Blu & Exile.

any self exiled national footballers we can think of...

Think DL will try to push something through for an announcement before Saturday's game, (if nothing else but to show what a great atmosphere we have to Llorente )

Abebayor is self-exiled from international football. And exiled from the Man City first team...

Think we're reading too much into it. Are we!?

Your pessimism is relentless.

Take a happy drug.

I can assure you I'm in no way pessimistic. Apologise if I come across that way.

I would consider myself as more of a realist.

My apparent 'pessimism/realism' is probably some sort of subconscious defence mechanism, built up over the course of seasons and transfer windows of a bygone age. :duh: (me, not you)

So, what squad numbers are we going to give Adebayor, Samba and Nilmar, then?

This would just be a pointless showboat signing that had no logic in terms of team building. He's been pretty unmotivated the last couple of years and I can't see Stoke away getting his juices flowing.

We are talking about one of the best players on the planet here! Ok so last season he wasnt up to his usual very high standards but he was injured for much of it and then found himself benched most of the time. This is the type of signing that would convince Modric to stay, improve our team and squad + raise our profile worldwide. VDV is already injured and no doubt will spend a lot of thE season on the sidelines like last year, so signing someone like Kaka should never be sneered at. It's a no brainer and madness not to want him...HOWEVER I suspect it's compete tosh that we are even in for him or that he would join us!

Adebayor is the one signing I have wanted us to make all summer. He is precisely what we need.

A mobile, imposing forward who can play up top on his own (if need be) and bring others into the game.

I won't even bother to respond to the ludicrous Kaka link.

See, this is the problem with these cryptic things. When given the chance, our imagination goes into over-drive.
I've got to say that, although I'm rubbish at them, I'd do enjoy the furore that they create. It's nice to be able to dream for a little while.

I've not raised my hopes up to Kaka levels just yet but, successful or not, I certainly wouldn't discount it as the type of move DL might TRY to make.

If it's an actual transfer that would be awesome, but I thought that everything up until this stage had pointed to a loan deal? So put your Ancelotti smiley away.

I thought I'd read that the Blue was the buy and the Yellow was the loan.

Jesus, you lot have dragged me into this B&Y malarky now!

Instead of maybe adding more posts to this already 'burgeoning beyond it's capability' thread. Why don't you have a look in the special forum we take absolutely ages looking after?

But you don't quite get the overall sense of panic and lunacy that comes with it all! Still, point taken.

Although I remaining open-minded about everything it honestly feels like we will never sign a decent striker! I know that we will eventually but at the moment it just seems like it isn't going to happen.

Not a fan of adebayor but he is the right kind of player I just don't see why Man City would want to deal with us or why Adebayor would want to come, but stranger things have happened I guess!

May have been a tad unfair on you, more a signpost to the 558 people viewing this thread.

Let's keep it ITK, everybody. And then Stoof will have his lunchtime cup of tea in peace.

Well their books currently boast Balotelli, Dzeko and Aguero - not to mention talk of incoming Eto'o.

It's understandable that they want to get at least some value from a player that may not feature.

But maybe now they've qualified for the CL, they don't see us as rivals any more. Which could be a fatal mistake; as I don't think there as far away from ourselves and Liverpool as the Press enjoy making out.

But that's for another time.

Everyone seems to have skipped over Nilmar. I mean, that's a fairly new (and also exciting) name. That his name has come from next to nowhere as well, that always fills me with excitement - especially with no immediate put down from POTL; like we had with Shababababaalalalalala.

The Only Way Is ITK. TOWII.

Im a little worried as the only games he ever seemed to be fantastic in were against us?? I remember watching scum games where he'd have chance after chance and f*ck it up??

He's scored 46 in 105 for the goons, 15 in 34 for Citeh (He's only played 34 matches for them? Unbelievable) and 5 in 15 for Real (Bench time included there as well as Citeh)
In effect he's, as near as dammit, a 1 in 2 player. Now others may be able to corrent me on this but I don't recall him hitting too many hat-tricks with anyone. Therefore, his goals are fairly regular and spread out. EXACTLY what you want from the striker leading your line.
If he can weigh in with 20 a season in the league (from 38 games at 1 in 2 that's not a massive ask) then VDV, Pav and A.N. Other can weigh in with around 10 to 15 each. Add goals from Bale, Lennon and the sporadic ones from others, then we have a title challenging side.

It's almost too easy ...................................................

I think Nilmar would be a very interesting and good buy for us. He would certainly work well if we signed Ade + he can operate out wide in a front 3 if need be. He is only 5ft 9 but is pretty handsome in the air as well as being quick and skillfull.

and Carlos Tévez, Craig Bellamy, Alex Nimely, Emmanuel Adebayor, Harry Bunn, Luca Scapuzzi, John Guidetti, Alex Henshall and Roque Santa Cruz.

They really could use another striker, not surprised they're in for Eto'o.

Is it just me or was it inevitable that we would be linked with Llorente a few days before he plays against us?

Not knocking and ITK we have about him, and keeping my fingers crossed, just in case.

My point has always been a striker that scores in many games rather than a striker that scores many goals in little games. Ala Defoe. Scoring 3 4 or 5 against crap and then not scoring for 10 games does nothing for our pursuit of glory compared to someone who scores in every other game. To score in 15 different league matches would be a major success.

Someone mentioned Lavezzi too. Great liittle player. I'd settle for him as the second forward rival to VDV.
