That money would only buy you Berhanio and Werner. I think and hope that's what will happen, but do we then have another 20 mill free for a top class CM?

Lennon part exchange for berahino? I'd be happy with that.

I hope we keep Fazio

He gives us a different option and is a beast in the air, he would be useful for certain games
How much can we get for him? 5-6
Mill? Agree prob worth keeping, but as people say, he may want to leave as is probably 4th choice center back. At his age and experience he can go be a first choice back in Spain. We have enough defenders. Even Davies can fill that position in a crisis

Don't particularly want to lose Fazio, but we do have a bit of a logjam there numerically. Five CB's was only really required when we had 2-3 of King, Woodgate and Gallas on the books.

Like the sound of the today's ITK but won't be holding breath/F5ing and expecting announcements/major movement in next day or so. Those of us that have been through multiple transfer windows on here will know why. The ITK is promising and there is clearly a lot going on, but there is usually a few more defcom levels of ITK before something is truly imminent.

There's not enough time left for that many deals.

It would also be too much upheaval. We all know how that story ends - manager sacked by xmas when mass of new players don't settle quickly enough.

Townsend and probably Fazio will stay IMO.

Can't see Fazio being sold tbh. If he is sold or loaned out, it could be on final day when we have wrapped up everything.

Early window we were told transfer funds were not an issue, it was the wages. However, our proposed spending pretty much equals or will equal what we've brought in from player/proposed sales. I hope it's not another case of breaking even and we do actually have additional funds to spend. It's the only way we'll manage to bring in the 3-4 players we'll need if all the outgoings materialise.

Yep, probably a signing after being beat 8-0 by Madrid, another when we get beat 8-0 by Milan/Bayern, and another when we get beat 8-0 by Utd.
You joke about this, but seriously a bad tonking tonight and Saturday might well be the kick up the are levy needs to let the moths out of his purse.

They are not first choice players though.

But we are talking about bringing in 9 new faces into a squad of 25, and losing both our two most experienced (Fazio and Soldado) and both our two longest serving (Lennon and Townsend) players.

That's too dramatic change for me, especially considering we actually had a really good season last year.

Experience counts for nothing is said players are of the standard Fazio, Soldado, Lennon & Townsend. imho, they're either not good enough or have failed to deliver time & time again.I for one salute Poch for getting rid of these type of players that have plagued our squad for far too long.

Besides that, if last year is anything to go by, other than Fazio in that list, the others hardly got serious game time.

How much of that did lennon take part in? He's gone.
Fazio goes, doesn't really make a difference. We have toby and verts as our first choice cb pairing. They have played together for years.
Soldado is gone. We will need a player that can score as a striker. If berahino comes in he knows 4 or 5 of our players and has played with them a few times. He also means that there is less of a need for townsend as he can play on the right.

So would I. I have been hearing exactly the same line for well over a month and nothing I am hearing has changed. 1 CM and 1 forward are a must and one more forward if we can move the right people on. Aside from what I have heard I don't see how a winger remotely fits into MP's plans unless we are looking to convert one to a WF role.

As for Faz I don't know if we are looking to sell him now, but from what I have been told he is not the type who would be happy sitting on the sidelines. I wouldn't be surprised if he has asked to move in order to play, and considering our options I think we'd let him for the right money.

This is what I think. I suspect he's not happy with the 2 centre back signings and is worried about game time. From his position you can understand it.

I agree that it's a lot of new players to integrate (again) but I'd much rather try and bring in players who want to play for the club and who aren't playing poorly than keep the likes of Lennon, Sodado and Fazio.

Townsend is the only potentially controversial one in there, but I think we can all agree that we can do better there as well.

Unfortunately the wasting of the Bale money on expensive flops means we needed to have a clearout, and you can't really have a clearout without bringing some new faces in.

We've got a fairly solid spine to the team with Lloris, Vertonghen, Bentaleb, Eriksen and Kane, and plenty of other players who have good premiership experience. I think that all helps when we're bringing in so many new players (if indeed we do).
