I think you could say the same of Defoe.

2012/13: 86 shots for 10 goals
2011/12: 66 shots for 11 goals

few assists and hold up play

Adebayor:

2012/13: 21 shots for 2 goals
2011/12: 100 shots for 17 goals

more assists and hold up play

Both around 1 goal per 6 shots last year. This year Defoe is 1 in 8, Ade 1 in 10.

Make what you will. we've all got our favourites! ;)
The difference is, Defoe's shooting tends to be from all over the place. I'd like to see the amount of goals most fans could score that Ade has missed, compared to the ones Defoe has scored.

In other words, Ade misses the EASIEST chances, and even when he scores he seems to fluff it, fall over himself, etc.

THAT SAID, I'm a huge fan of Ade, I just think his shooting is woeful despite scoring a lot of goals, his all round game is incredible, if he could score, he'd be the striker we've always wanted.

Edit: I meant if he could shoot, as I know he does score.

Stats doesnt exactly reflect the whole story. Ade is not exactly a prolific finish. Then amount of chances we created for him were immense. He should have a way better record base on what we've created for him

anyone know how many of his goals last season were penalties?

i've said this before and i will say it again.....the striker to propel Spurs into serious title contenders is not at the club yet

I agree. To assume that Lllorente and Damiao are automatically better than Ade is harsh.

Ade has played for Arsenal, Madrid, City and Spurs and did well everywhere. The other two have yet to even step out of their comfort zone. Llorente could even struggle in a different country considering how hesitant he has been to leave his home town club.

Was about to post the same thing. Leandro isn't going to come in and be a starter so makes sense to pick him up this window if possible and give him time to adapt. I would be more than happy with Ade and Defoe with Leandro around the squad too for the rest of the season.

If in the summer Ade wants out then we re-evaluate but for now he is good for us

we need 3 decent strikers anyway

So if Leandro came in i would not want us to Sell Ade. As you say, assess it in the summer

All very quiet in the ITK front at the moment. I suppose we're at least 20 days away from when things normally pick up for Spurs, and I actually don't think we're looking to spend any money this window, but it's still quiet.

Maybe the Tottemham board have sent out hit squads on those really ITK, to hide a few surprises... But then again, maybe it is Levy tightening the locks on his wallets chastity belt :)

I can't see us letting Ade go (famous last words!) Looking at our last two signings it may point again to where the club would look, mainly towards a young, hungry forward with potential. When we were first interested in Leandro, that was basically what we were trying to do, but with the long, well published transfer negotiations he has had time to push himself forward and subsequently he's big money now.

Agreed. We only have two strikers as it is, and one of them may be off to the ACoN. There is no way we could afford to sell Adebayor without having someone else lined up. I'm not overly enthusiastic about having to make do with Dempsey as stand in striker whilst Adebayor is away, let alone if he left, as Dempsey seems more effective coming from deeper than leading the line.
There was a story doing the rounds yesterday regarding a young Argentine striker, Facundo Ferreyra. Exactly the sort of signing I'd like to see, promising young striker, probably wouldn't be too expensive, and given his age may be more accepting of fringe player during his acclimatisation period.

I would rather get rid of Defoe than Adebayor, even if we get Llorente or Leandro in.

Have to say I agree with this bit too. As well as Defoe has done this year scoring goals, I think he is still a little too one dimensional. First instinct, drag and shoot. Second instinct, drag and shoot. I think that while Ade may not have been as prolific this year, I do just believe as a focal point he brings others into play a bit more, opens up opportunities for others as well as himself, and last season when he had a more regular run of games, he averaged over one goal every two games, not to mention the assists he had too.
If you look how Sigurdsson got his goals last year, it was buzzing round a striker to play off, with Defoe he doesn't get that service, with Ade he would.

Over his last 6 games Defoe has 1 goal with 25 shots.

When was the last time Ade scored a proper goal for Spurs, I'm talking 20 yards out top corner?

I always remember him smashing that volley past Robinson but never anything like that for us :(

Dont care if he scores from 20 yards or a yard out. Just as long as someone puts it in the back of the net.
