What if the reason that we did not qualify for CL next season was because we kept a disgruntled below par Modric rather than spending £40m/£50m on a committed replacement?
I also just dont get this whole DL now cant change his mind thing. If we were offered enough money to enable the new stadium to be built then surely DL should be allowed to say 'for the long-term good of the club' etc etc - things change and for DL to do his job properly he has to be given flexibility - no-one is going DL a weakling if he sells a player who doesnt want to stay for £100m+
Now i know we are unlikely to receive such an offer but i am just trying to illustrate that the never never approach will not stop other clubs trying and could end up with us taking the wrong decision just to keep face
I hope and pray we can convince Modric of the merits of our/his club and ensure he WANTS to stay.
1) I seriously do not believe Modric would be massively under par if denied a transfer...especially if promised a revue next year, and particularly if we don't qualify for CL.
2) I never said Levy can't back-track, I said he will lose a hell of a lot of credibility if he does. Well...qon't he?
3) No matter how good the deal offered, if he backtracks he will lose a massive amount of credibility.
4) In a more general sense: I think it is about time something was done about these players (if Modric's attitude is all as reported). He signed a six year contract which included a very big increase in wages...if he was pretty much decided that he would want out, A) after a year, B) if we didn't qualify for CL, he should have made that clear - we could have just not bothered paying him the extra wages and put the money saved towards paying for a replacement we definitively knew we would need. This is colouring my attitude. Again, if true, I would contact all Chairman and ask them to help affray the cost of forcing him to train with the Academy for 5 years, effectively ruining his career, and then maybe players wouldn't sign these lengthy 'bumper' contracts they knew they would be trying to wriggle out of as soo as poss. Essentially if is getting a top-up on your wages under false pretences. /Rant:grin:
We might not have any ****'s but we have plenty of pussies.
Would they be busy *****
Does anyone here think Levy would hold out if we were offered 40 mil?
:hump:
Everyday the mods say take Luka chat elsewhere and everyday this thread is full of the same Luka shit.
See below.
to be fair there has been ITK on him...
There was Modric ITK yesterday, there has been Modric ITK today.
I asked A&C at the start of the thread about this, as certain posters and the Mods are complaining about it (and I sympathise, I would prefer to not discuss the situation - but it's hard not to respond to try to stop the doom-mongering). There was no response. If the Mods make it clear that no mater what the ITK is on Modric it is only to be discussed on the Modric thread, even though it is ITK, and then enforce that across the board, fine. But posters moaning about other posters discussing ITK when there has been no official directive from the Mods is a bit unfair. I would like any ITK involving  Aguerro (just as an example) banned, can I get that done?
'tapping up' rossi is okay then?
:hump: It's...different...
On a lighter note, SP is often mistaken for Kaka
